2,5000 Wrestling Fans Accuse Roman Reigns of Cheating, Petition Started

Roman Reigns is not having a good year so far. He lost his WWE World Heavyweight Championship title and was also suspended by the company for violating the well-documented wellness policy. Reigns’ latest challenge has come in the form of a Charge.org petition to remove his “ILLEGAL vest during the course of WWE competition” which is approaching the 2,500 signatures required.

The petition was first started as a result of a lengthy post by Taco12Pac on Reddit’s professional wrestling community – r/SquaredCircle – titled, “ROMAN REIGNS IS A DIRTY FUCKING CHEATER, AND I HAVE PROOF.” The post contained a clip of new WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens’ punching Reigns to demonstrate how the vest gives him an unfair advantage and even compared it to what Armed Forces’ personnel use. The petition reads:

“Roman Reigns has been systematically breaking the rules of Admiral-Lord Mountevans Unified Rules of Professional Wrestling through the use of illegal body armor to protect himself during the course of matches with legitimately dressed competitors, and has been doing so throughout his career. We require swift action that prohibits the use of this body armor in all future WWE contests by Mr. Reigns and anyone else.”

  • new reason

I think you need to watch the Mania 31 video again: Brock’s face was cut when Roman drove him face first into the ringpost (Brock’s face was cut by the ringpost NOT the buckles on Roman’s vest). Also speaking of Brock: all the Roman haters are so busy hating on him that they seem to have forgotten that while Roman has paid for his drug violation, Brock is still running around without any sign of being punished for his 2 drug violations and to add insult to all this he was allowed to win the Summerslam match against Randy Orton (while Roman was forced to lose matches and eat the pin several times since he returned from his suspension) and the only thing he got for busting Randy’s head wide open at Summerslam was a ridiculous $500 fine (the fine is so ridiculous that last Monday Paul Heyman turned it into a parody). If this guy really wanted to start a petition that was worthwhile he should have done one demanding that 1) the WWE punishes Brock Lesnar for his drug failure and for injuring Randy Orton and 2) demanding that part-timers should also be subjected to WWE’s Wellness Policy rules like all the full-time wrestlers. (O sorry I forgot that the WWE will NEVER subject part-timers to its Wellness Policy test: just imagine the WWE doing the test on HHH!). Saying that Roman’s vest gives him an unfair advantage is ridiculous because if it was really giving him an advantage the other wrestlers who get in the ring with him would have protested (but they seem to be OK with it). Clearly this vest petition is just another excuse to continue picking on Roman

  • Kayfabe_Is_Dead

Wait, how many people is that? Not even a number…. SMH…nice headline idiots.

  • jedi

The only issue i see are the buckles on it. Look at what happened to brock at Mania when he went to drive Roman into the corner & got his face cut up on it. Other then that i dont see the problem with it.

  • new reason

His hernia happened just a few days after the breakup of the shield and if you notice at that time that the hernia occurred the vest he was wearing was different from the one he wears today. Also if you notice today under the padded vest he also wears what looks like a rubber vest (he did not have that rubber vest when he used to wear his shield vest)

  • new reason

Yes, he got pulled out from the main event of Night of Champions because of the hernia (Roman himself said that at the time the hernia occurred he was going round promoting the match that he was going to have against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions. For those who want to see it, watch the video about his hernia where he is lying in his hospital bed explaining what happened).

  • new reason

If you follow WWE properly you should remember that he was taken in for the hernia operation just a few days after the breakdown of the shield. I advise you to watch the video of the breakup of the shield (the part where Roman was getting the chair shots from Randy Orton) and notice the violence of those chair shots that Randy gave him in his stomach. Also watch the 2 videos posted online about the hernia (the one of Roman in his hospital bed explaining what happened and the interview with the doctor who performed the surgery). Notice also that every time he attacks his opponent during a promo (when he’s not wearing the padded vest) he only attacks with one hand and keeps his other hand in front of his stomach to protect it. He did it even during last Monday’s promo when he hit KO at the end of the ‘interview’ between the 4 contenders. Also have a look at the video of the signing of the Fastlane contract between Roman, Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar (during that signing Roman was not wearing the padded vest) and notice that at the moment that Brock pushed the table into him Roman quickly leaped out of the ring to prevent the table from hitting his stomach and a scared HHH came running out at full speed. Notice also that in all his matches the WWE always allowed him time to put on his padded vest (even during his feuds with the Authority) and the only times that the Authority pitted him in a match that was to start immediately was when he was already wearing the vest. As for whether the petition is a joke or not I’m not going to comment because 1) I don’t know the intentions of the person who started it, and 2) if that person does decide to deliver it I don’t know whether the persons receiving it are going to look at it as a joke or not. As I said no one except the person who started it knows the true intentions of that petition (he might as well be saying that it is a joke on purpose to get more people to fall into the trap of signing it because they think that it won’t be sent).

  • CC

And it didn’t protect him from getting the hernia did it, so how will it protect it now?

  • CC

Lets break this down into why your comment is ridiculous.
1: You say it protects his hernia.
2: We say, he wore it beforehand and it did not stop him from getting a hernia, so how will it protect that hernia that it could not protect his body from getting?
Come on. You are obviously one of the great surgical minds of our generation. Please explain it to us mere mortals.

  • CC

But you still have not explained how this protects his hernia (it wouldn’t), where you heard about his family telling him to wear it. And why he wore it beforehand (it didn’t stop him getting a hernia, so how is it going to protect him?).
The petition is a joke, but I think your post is an even bigger joke.

  • Mister Who

Hahaha totally sucks for Boo-man Reigns, what about D Lo Brown?

  • StocktonJoe

Some people just don’t have enough to do.

  • Armitage Soulshroude

The jack-nut is ignorant to “predetermination”.

  • MrDr3w

He actually did have surgery for a hernia he suffered two years ago, and I believe he had to get pulled from the main event of Night of Champions because of it.

  • jack

what a cheat!! disgraceful stuff.. roman reigns on my parade 🙁

  • jedi

Only roman & his physician know huh? Are you his physician? Oh no you proved your baseless story of needing it schmo!

  • jedi

I did not sign a petition slick i think its stupid. Delo Brown wore thensame thing. You making up a story about the hernia is a joke sorry! Lmao it was a good story though lmao! Would love to see one shred of proof of your allegations about needing it for hernia. The vest would do nothing as it ends before where a hernia would take place. Having the surgery myself i know that vest does nothing! Lmao tell us another bed time story though lmao

  • new reason

Note my reply to MrDr3w and Jedi below. And no – I am NOT Roman’s daughter, Roman or any of his family members (though I wouldn’t mind if I were). I have never even met him (and probably never will). I’m just a person who is pointing out the possible consequences of the petition. Now if you want to ignore my posts its up to you. I haven’t signed that petition, so whatever may happen as a result of it is not my responsibility but the responsibility of all those who sign it.

  • new reason

So you’re assuming that the hernia is fully healed. Fact is that only Roman, his doctors, his family and the WWE authority know the exact condition of his hernia today – I don’t (and probably neither do you). Bottom line is that I do not sign a petition when I don’t know what the consequences of this petition will be if it comes into force. Nobody is stopping you from signing it, but note that if anything bad happens to Roman as a result of this petition all fingers are going to point at you (are you even aware of the fact that the WWE has signed all its wrestlers as “independent contractors”? The reason for this is simple: if something bad happens to them at their workplace since they are listed as independent contractors they cannot sue the WWE for any damages. So the WWE has cleverly wriggled itself out of responsibility of all the bad things that could happen to these wrestlers, while all of you who signed the petition have voluntarily taken the responsibility of all the bad things that can happen to Roman if he removes the vest). We all know that Vince is EXCELLENT at blaming someone else when something goes wrong, and if anything bad happens to Roman if he fights without the vest he will be DELIGHTED to put the blame on all of you who have signed that petition!

  • MrDr3w

I think this “new reason” person might be RR’s daughter…

  • D2K

You mean all 2,5000 of them according to the title. It’s so stupid they had to invent a new number for it.

  • Jesus Ortiz

Lol you can’t cheat when the match is predetermined. I swear most wrestling fans are stupid.

  • new reason

I wonder who is really the stupid person whether it is me who did not – and will not – sign the petition or you who just goes around blindly signing petitions for others without knowing what the consequences can be (I’m saying for others because you are trying to speak for the other wrestlers, when the other wrestlers can speak for themselves). Are you by any chance a relative of one of the other wrestlers? Because if you are not one of the wrestlers who get in the ring with him or his relative you really ARE stupid to sign a petition for or against someone who is a COMPLETE STRANGER to you. And yes, the original reason of him wearing that vest was to protect the site of his hernia surgery. Only Roman and his doctors know what condition his hernia is in now, but one thing is for sure: nobody messes with a life- threatening injury. Just like all the other wrestlers, Roman is a complete stranger to me: I have never met him (and probably never will), so I’m intelligent enough NOT to interfere in his business. If you want to sign that petition nobody is going to stop you but if anything bad happens to Roman as a result of that petition be a man and accept responsibility of the consequences. (unlike you I don’t have to worry about any consequences because I didn’t sign the petition).

  • CC

So explain why he wore it BEFORE he had the hernia then?
That armour would do nothing to protect him from a hernia. You do realise that, yes?

  • new reason

I forgot to say that in order to convince more people to sign the petition a lot of sites are claiming that the petition is a joke on purpose to make you fall into the trap and sign it. The truth is that only those who started it know whether it is a joke or not and whether they really intend to send it or not, and if they do send it nobody knows how it will end (many happenings that were supposed to be jokes ended up in tragedy). Finally I think that the other wrestlers and their families can speak for themselves: since they seem to be OK with him wearing that vest, it is none of the fans’ business whether he wears it or not. If you work at a building site it is the guy who works WITHOUT the protective gear that is in wrong not the one protecting himself. At least Roman is smart enough to protect himself unlike the others (so the WWE is appointing these wrestlers as “independent contractors” on purpose so that if they get injured or anything bad happens to them it rids itself of all responsibility, while some idiots sign a petition that can lead to a wrestler’s death and willingly make themselves responsible for it!)

  • jedi

Lmao did you make that up yourself just now? Hahaha that is so stupid hahaha

  • new reason

Roman wears that vest to protect the site where he had his LIFE-THREATENING hernia surgery. The hernia was so serious that his family wanted him to quit but then allowed him to continue only on condition that he wears the vest. If that hernia is at risk of recurring, fighting without the vest can lead to him dying in the ring. And if he does die in the ring as a result of being forced to remove the vest all those stupid enough to sign the petition will be held responsible and will have to spend the next 10 years providing for his 8- year old daughter until she becomes an adult (rumor has it that Roman earns $1.2 million per year)

  • Darryll Morris

Signed in crayon. LOL Oh my goodness. Sir, you win the internet.

  • Will Henderson

this is another example of why online petitions aren’t taken seriously.

  • MrDr3w

I bet all 2,500 of them signed in crayon. I also find it extremely amusing how these “fans” are taking offense to his ring gear, and not his drug violations, his crappy mic skills, or his overall demeanor and attitude towards his work.

  • The Killswitch

    Wat.

  • D2K

If there were any doubts that society is about to crumble………

  • Darryll Morris

Wow people are dense, ha. “Cheating”…The vest is part of his gimmick. Get real, it is pro wrestling with predetermined outcomes. I assume the people that made this petition and the people signing it are like, 12.

  • M

As if people on this earth don’t complain enough? You’ve got to be out of your mind or just a typical brainless hater to waste your time signing this “petition”. Why not ban a third member of the new day in every tag match? They clearly cheat and have an advantage over their opponent, do this to every faction.

  • Solid

    lol

and lol at petitions in general….
