Abyss Explains The Reason He Turned Down A WWE Contract In 2006

Chris Parks a.k.a Abyss was the guest on this week’s edition of The Ross Report with Jim Ross. During the interview, Abyss commented on WWE offering him a contract from several years ago (2006) that he turned down. He said that John Laurinaitis offered him a main event push as his TNA contract was about to expire, but he made the last-minute decision to not sign with WWE and stay with TNA.

The reason he turned it down was to stay and help build TNA from the ground up and because the 2005-2006 period was one of the hottest times for TNA. He said that he was appreciative of the offer and added, “I’m sure it’s an amazing place to work.”

He also confirmed that the plans were for him to be a surprise in the 2007 Royal Rumble and then he’d move on to start a feud with The Undertaker for WrestleMania 23 in Detroit.
