AJ Styles breaks another phenomenal record

AJ Styles

Before his surprise debut at Royal Rumble, not many people expected AJ Styles to actually carve out an impressive run in the WWE. Even if he managed to do well, fans never imagined they’d see Mr. TNA holding the WWE Championship.

Cut to three years later, and the Phenomenal One has surprised all of the fans who thought he’d be mishandled. Today, Styles reached another impressive milestone, as he’s officially held the company’s top prize for a full year. To date, his combined reigns add up to 505 days.

Styles is only fifteen days away from passing Macho Man Randy Savage in combined days. Ten more days after that and he’ll break into the top 10 all-time longest reigning champions, surpassing Stone Cold Steve Austin.

We have seen it before, even with lower and mid carders where they have that perfect moment to give them a push (Ryder, Fandango, Rusev etc) and they balk at it, wait too long and the moment is gone. Part of it is defo lack of trust, but I also think they hate the concept of people getting themselves over as they cannot take credit for it then.

I’m particularly amused at your “Wait to long to pull the trigger”. How many times and so often has the WWE waited for that same moment and failed miserably, just because they don’t trust their own talent?

I still believe the plan with Braun Strowman has always been WM 35 even before Roman Regin illness. Because they going to have Braun Strowman start a new era in the WWE.

Now AJ Styles don’t see him losing the title anytime soon.

I agree with you, I think Balor and Ambrose should have a run or two with the IC belt before they give them another shot again.

Annoyingly they have several guys on Raw that could be marquee names with that belt, but due to poor booking for so long, they need to re-establish themselves.
Braun would be so over as champ it is not funny, but for whatever reason, I am guessing that WWE thinks that for Survivor Series, the only credible person to hold the belt is Lesnar.
Now I hope that after SS that they drop the title to someone else like Braun, but I am worried that Lesnar will be holding this belt some time again, or at least until WM.

Guys like Rollins, Ambrose & Balor all need another crack at the top spot for certain, especially with Ambrose’s new heel persona, but they need to at least get that belt on Strowman while his popularity is so high. Wait too long to pull the trigger, and it will be too late.

Right now, I’m with member (CC) on this. With my own post, I validate that Styles is one of… if not the ONLY main name the WWE has to offer at this time and on the Smackdown brand. Since the WWE is grasping for serious straws after the “Reigns” issue… who else is going to pick up the pace? They’ve got Styles for Smackdown but NO ONE for RAW and yet, they refuse to institute Braun as a clear contender. So they went back to Brock which is a very tired and clear mistake.

In my view… the next few months may result in a “stock prices go down” scenario. The WWE needs to take a new look at itself and get its head out of its *ss.

Short but sweet, OPINION PIECE. Take it as you will.

    Totally…

Unless something bad happens or WWE randonly make him lose the title on the next episode of SD, he will not be losing that title in the next ten days seeing as Survivor Series is over a week away, and that is not even a title match
