AJ Styles on why he left TNA

AJ Styles had a fairly lengthy run with TNA and many believed that the company would never let the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion go as he was one of their biggest stars.

So many were left surprised when it was revealed that Styles will be leaving the company back in December 2013 and become a free agent once again.

During his recent appearance on the E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, the former TNA Star talked about his departure from the company and revealed that the primary reason behind it was the well known financial issues of the promotion:

“I take a lot of pride in what I do in the ring, but at the end of the day, if I’m not supporting my family, then why am I here? And so, it came down to a money issue and they were having problems, but that isn’t my problem. I contributed the best I can and did everything I could to help make TNA a good company that people would want to work for and they abused their money terribly.”

Continuing on the topic, the current United States Champion talked about how it was a scary decision to leave the company he had worked in for more than a decade:

“Yeah, it was a scary thing because this was the job I had for 11 years. And I just felt like it was the right call. I wasn’t sure where it was going to lead, but it was the whole principle of the thing, that you can’t just treat somebody like that and think that they’re going to stand by your side.”

Apart from this AJ Styles also talked about a large variety of wrestling related topics and made an interesting comment on Mr McMahon saying that he lives in a bubble.
