AJ Styles revealed who called for his title victory at MSG Live Event

It was a pleasant surprise for WWE fans when AJ Styles won the United States championship from Kevin Owens during the WWE Live Event at Madison Square Garden earlier this month.

However, since then the championship has changed hands twice, which has led to many speculations about whether or not Vince McMahon had approved the title change at WWE Live Event ahead of time.

During his latest appearance on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, AJ spoke up about his victory and cleared the doubts over this issue. According to the former WWE Champion not only did Vince approve it but it was his call to have the title change take place at a Live Event:

“It was really cool, but it was smart to not do that every year, but every couple of years to do something like that. I think it just came down to doing something different and it was Vince’s call and no one else’s. And yeah, it was great.”

When asked who he would like to face in future from the current roster, the US Champion took the name of the Rusev among some others:

“I have yet to wrestle Rusev and I think that would be really fun, to wrestle a guy like him. But there are guys on the RAW side that I haven’t really been in the ring with like Seth Rollins and Finn Bálor. I think people want to see. I’ve never worked Shinsuke Nakamura on US soil, so that could be a big deal as well.”

It’s worth noting here that after being defeated in the Triple Threat match this past Tuesday night, Kevin Owens has demanded his rematch for the US title against AJ Styles next week and it’d be interesting to see what happens in that match.
