While it’s not known where they originated from, recently there have been rumors that the current WWE Champion AJ Styles will be taking retirement after WrestleMania 34.
These rumors grew so strong that AJ himself had to respond to it saying that this news is wrong while replying to a fan’s tweet as seen below:

As we noted before, AJ Styles’ current WWE contract expires sometimes in early 2019 so he is expected to stay around for at least one more year.
While he has talked about taking retirement afterward, it’s very much possible that the Phenomenal one will sign a new contract with the company before his current deal expires, presumably with a lighter schedule.
AJ Styles is currently scheduled to defend his WWE Championship against Jinder Mahal at the SmackDown Exclusive PPV Clash Of Champions on December 17th.
