As seen Monday night on Raw, Eva Marie made her televised wrestling debut as she and fellow Total Divas JoJo and Natalya defeated Alicia Fox, Aksana and Rosa Mendes in a Six-Diva Tag Team Match. The 29-year-old’s performance drew negative reviews online, as her inexperience was put on display before millions of viewers (prior to the match, she had only wrestled before a live crowd once, a non-televised tag team bout at SummerSlam Axxess in August). It has since come out that this reaction was sought within WWE as she was purposely set up to fail by members of management.

Dave Meltzer claimed on F4WOnline.com’s Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE officials wanted to knock the confident Californian down a few pegs, since they feel she has an undeserved ego and doesn’t realize how much she has to learn as a performer. Therefore, they had her sink on national television in hopes of making her humble.

This is not the first time in which Eva Marie, who F4WOnline.com reported in August as being “passionately hated” by some of her co-workers, was pranked in an inside manner.

In a segment filmed backstage at a spring Raw show for the August 4 episode of E! Total Divas, she was led to believe by company personnel that she had committed a wrongful act and that an infuriated Stephanie McMahon wanted to confront her over the matter (on the episode, the meeting was depicted as stemming from Eva Marie lying about her background in order to audition to be Fandango’s dancer, which was a fabricated storyline). During the blurred reality segment, McMahon threatened to fire her if she embarrassed the company again with her conduct. Eva Marie legitimately cried during the meeting, as she was not aware that the situation was orchestrated and that McMahon was fooling around with her through her character persona.

Some people will always have heat and Vince has always been big on trying to humble people and see how they respond. Some diva’s are probably jealous because they feel that Eva Marie looks better than they do. The bottom line is if they really did this to punish her in front of everyone, it shows how little they view us as fans. You don’t punish the paying customer just so you can bully someone else. More proof that we should not support the bs a star campaign.

More proof Be A Star is BS…

then what’s that talent center hunter made for? sure, she’s part of that god-awful reality show, but if they signed her just for that then why make her wrestle? seriously, she has the look and she def needs a ton of work needed to become at least fairly decent but embarrassing her by performing on live tv is just plain nuts even if she has an ‘ego’ at this early of her career

It wouldn’t be the first time they punished someone in the ring/publicly for a number of reasons, ego, not resigning contract etc…

DAMN! A bit too much IMO

Well if she isn’t passionate about wrestling, and doesn’t have a love for the business then who’s to say she will even give a crap about bombing in the ring, I mean im sure it was embarrassing but if she doesn’t have a passion for wrestling I doubt this will motivate her to become better in the ring. Plus the wwe is only looking for a certain type of woman when it comes to on air talent, and she fits the bill with her overly skinny body and plastic looking features. And as long as she is a big part of total divas and the show continues to do well enough for E to want it to remain on there station, then it really wont matter how bad she sucks or how big her ego is, she will remain employed and made to feel important until the show is cancelled.

    Sounds like…….Bullying……better call Ryback

I have trouble believing that. At least, I hope it’s not true. That sounds childish and more than a bit dangerous. If she’s not ready then she never should have been brought up in the first place. At least have them learn how to wrestle in front of an audience BEFORE you try to make them into a star.

As far as the reality show: whatever. I don’t watch.

  • Shawn OB

This better be fake because they’re running a show and they need professionals to do so. Have her train for wrestling matches and don’t have her check her ego on air! Idiots.
