- As noted earlier, Vince Russo is working for the TNA creative team as a consultant. Word is that Eric Bischoff is also doing storyline consulting. Apparently there is less than three months left on both of their contracts.

- TNA is trying to move away from Eric Young’s goofy character in hopes they can turn around the perception that people have of Young and repackage him as a credible champion. Part of the reason TNA put the World Heavyweight Title on Young is to get some cross-promotion from his Animal Planet show, Off The Hook: Extreme Catches. Season three of that show debuts on June 16th. TNA is planning to spend the next two months getting Young over as champion to coincide with the return of his show.

Yeah, but at least with The Rock, it was to advertise WrestleMania, not “Fishing with The Rock”.

I don’t remember him advertisng any outside products in his last run, beyond maybe one or two offhand mentions of F&F.

wwe did same with rock last year, pretty much taking any steam or credibility punks reign garnered it. At least TNA are tna and it came off magnus

I liked when Coachman and Bischoff paired up around ’05 when they were mocking ECW. They played some good arrogant heels.

I love to see Eric Bischoff back in the WWE once again. Think he would could be a GM or do some kind of work just always been more of a Bischoff fan then a Paul Heyman fan would love to see Bischoff as a manger rival to Heymen yet again.

So, they basically gave him the belt as an advertising gimmick. If he were less talented, I’d compare this to David Arquette. Either way, though, it’s TNA’s version of WCW’s final years.
