Backstage news on Chris Jericho’s signing with AEW

Chris Jericho AEW

Chris Jericho’s signing with AEW was probably the biggest news coming out of the Double or Nothing rally from Jacksonville because of Jericho’s status and his popularity.

However, during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer talked about Chris’s contract with the company and revealed some interesting details on it.

According to Meltzer, Jericho actually had talked to WWE just recently, and while he has been rumored to be involved with the promotion from a long time, it appears that he made his decision to sign with the company just recently.

Not only that but it appears that Chris might not have signed an exclusive contract with the company as he is interested in working more matches with NJPW in near future.

Though it was noted that other stars who have signed with the promotion appear to have signed exclusive contracts and it’s only Jericho who might have a different deal.

Every time I see a backstage news I laugh because I know damn well the dirt sheet has never been backstage. Look I hate to break it to the dirt sheet but Chris Jericho is not the first former WWE great to sign with another wrestling company it is just buisness WWE never take it personal.

I’m going to laugh if he shows up at the Rumble. Anything is possible with him.

Biggest news according to who exactly? Dirt sheets desperately trying to make this a thing. What backstage news was this? Pro wrestling news becoming as fake as Leftist communist news.

What’s up with the “critical reporting”? It’s like the writers on this website are “exclusively credible”. How many writers here actually have a “Degree in Journalism”?

I like how they keep “reporting” on how WWE is taking his signing. Like, oh no, this guy we bring in to do fairly pointless part-time stretches to put young stars over is tired of doing that and is trying to help out a new promotion. I can see the McMahons being mad because of “disloyalty”, but who honestly cares?

Well despite his comments that he is in it for the long term when he signed, there is no way he is going to sign a contract that does not allow him to do his other outside interests. I could easily see his contract being a much more open one than anyone elses based on his star power alone.
He is still going to want to tour and record with Fozzy and potentially do other stuff like TV or movies, and a contract that allows him to wrestle with NJPW would be beneficial to both promotions anyway.
