WWE held a Royal Rumble the last time they went to Saudi Arabia so when they announced a World Cup for their second event there, it didn’t surprise a lot of people.
Many thought that this was just a gimmick and the company just announced this World Cup to give the stars something to do but it appears that there is more to it.
During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer discussed the upcoming Show and claimed that the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia had actually requested for this World Cup.
According to Meltzer, the prince was unhappy with losing rights to the 2022 FIFA Football World Cup to Qatar, a country they have been fighting with for the power in the region
So they decided to call WWE and requested them to have their own World Cup of Pro Wrestling for the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV.
