Backstage news on original plans for Asuka vs Charlotte at WrestleMania

The ending of Asuka’s undefeated streak has to be one of the most surprising moments of WrestleMania this past Sunday as most of us expected the Empress to win her bout against Charlotte.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer shed some light on the situation revealing that the original plan was for the former NXT Women’s Champion to go over.

According to him, the original idea of the match included multiple submission attempts from both the competitors and that’s why WWE had told the Raw Star to start using Armbar as her finisher long before WrestleMania.

However, the plans obviously changed and the company surprisingly decided to end Asuka’s streak at the Show Of Shows. Though there is no word yet on why this decision was made.

What Officials have in store for the Japanese Star is not known either but with Superstar Shakeup approaching next week, the former NXT Star could very well end up on the Blue Brand
