Backstage news on original plans for Asuka vs Charlotte at WrestleMania

Asuka vs Charlotte

The ending of Asuka’s undefeated streak has to be one of the most surprising moments of WrestleMania this past Sunday as most of us expected the Empress to win her bout against Charlotte.

During the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Dave Meltzer shed some light on the situation revealing that the original plan was for the former NXT Women’s Champion to go over.

According to him, the original idea of the match included multiple submission attempts from both the competitors and that’s why WWE had told the Raw Star to start using Armbar as her finisher long before WrestleMania.

However, the plans obviously changed and the company surprisingly decided to end Asuka’s streak at the Show Of Shows. Though there is no word yet on why this decision was made.

What Officials have in store for the Japanese Star is not known either but with Superstar Shakeup approaching next week, the former NXT Star could very well end up on the Blue Brand

I just read elsewhere that the reason Charlotte won is because they want Charlotte vs Rousey at WrestleMania next year, and want to build them both to be unstoppable until then.

Look for Asuka to maybe move to Smackdown and have match after match where she comes out on top. If I had to guess right now, I’d say she meets Charlotte again (maybe without the title on the line) and wins by arm-bar. All of this is to set up a pay-per-view to be named later where she faces Rhonda Rousey in what will be billed as “The Battle of the Arm Bars.”

Trailblazer! Wwes term when a women wrestler retires or passes

I believe Auska will go to Smackdown and Summerslam we will see a rematch were Auska comes out on top. It going to show Auska can bounch back from a lost.

Wow, could it be ANOTHER Flair refusing to put someone over? Hmmm…

It was a way for Asuka to lose without the first lose coming to Ronda Rousey and getting a ton of heat. She’ll probably put over Ronda at SummerSlam unless she goes to Smackdown. Smackdown would be the best place for her since she hasn’t had a bunch of matches with the women over there.
