Backstage news on original plans for Dean Ambrose before injury

It appears that Dean Ambrose’s triceps injury not only forced WWE to change plans for the Shield reunion but it also resulted in some big plans for Ambrose being nixed.

Dave Meltzer noted on the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the company had plans for Ambrose to turn heel after the Shield reunited.

After his heel turn, the Lunatic Fringe was penciled to feud with the Big Dog Roman Reigns, though it’s not known when this feud was expected to begin.

As we noted before it appears that Seth Rollins will be challenging Roman for the Universal Championship after Reigns wins the title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania.

While not confirmed, it’s possible that this spot was originally slated for the former SmackDown Live Star but due to the injury of both Ambrose and Jason Jordan, Rollins found himself in the perfect spot to replace Dean.
