Backstage News on Sheamus Winning the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble

– WWE decided to have Sheamus win the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble to throw a curve ball at fans who were expecting Chris Jericho to win. Michael Cole’s line about which title will Sheamus challenge for at WrestleMania 28 was designed to make fans believe the storyline were just shaken up big time.

WWE officials are high on the way Sheamus presents himself and have had plans to push him hard for the past year.

Told you guys that Sheamus would win.

  • LVW

    THE KING called it.

  • chronoxiong

He’s over and is buddies with Triple H. I’m happy for the fella.

  • kitkrock

Hopefully after Sheamus wins the world title at ‘Mania, he’ll lose it to Jinder Mahal, who’ll lose it to the Great Khali in a final encounter-punjabi prison match and all will be well again.

    @Nicholas, all that is true.

also, people that say CM Punk ‘Changed’ WWE, nope he didn’t. he had a hissyfit and wasn’t going to sign a new contract unless he was made a main-eventer. Atleast Cena’s loyal.

    ^ oh get over yourself.

I love these haters on the internet whinning and crying. You know if Jericho had won last these same people would be saying how young guys never get push they are never happy. Heck you even have Y2J himself telling his fans to quit crying. Look I have love Sheamus since day one. He just had that passion for wrestling that made me a fun. Was he a better heel heck yeah. But I knew once he went face he was going to be big.

I like the fact that HHH is so high on Sheamus it just shows me that he has a good eye for the buisness. I mean to me Sheamus started the change in the WWE not Punk with all do respect. I love Punk a lot but change started with Sheamus when he won the WWE title in less then 6 months the young guys had woke the heck up.

I say to all the cry babies out there get use to seeing Sheamus he is going to be around for a long time.

They pushed him hard twice already. Give up.

  • Every body acknowledges that humen’s life seems to be very expensive, but we require cash for different issues and not every one earns big sums money. So to receive fast personal loans and short term loan should be a correct way out.

Sheamus has no charisma…he’s boring, and he isn’t over. Who really even thought much about him until he won the Rumble? The only reason he won is because he’s Triple H’s pick and training partner. If people thought HHH was bad manipulating things as a wrestler…you haven’t seen anything yet. Sheamus can’t draw $ and he is one of WWE’s most overrated wrestlers. That’s just who I would want with the belt. Hopefully he won’t even win the strap.

  • nick

sheamus… the guy who was thrown out of a battle royal by a midget, yet chris jericho couldnt throw him over

  • Mark

yeah from the UK I am, Sheamus, well done FELLA!!

  • Wellsy

Sheamus is massively over as a face. He has the potential to be a major face for a long time. He’s got a great character, great charisma, isn’t boring and has a bit about himself. He’s not been pushed as invincible like Cena. He got a huge pop when he came out at the Rumble, so I’m glad they’ve decided to push him. Would have been better had he not had 2 previous (but short) WWE title runs though.

  • Automattic

Wait…WWE threw a POSITIVE curve ball at its fans? One that didn’t blow things up? I…I don’t know what to say. I’m so proud.

Excuse me, I have something in my eye…

Even better… the possibility of having a heel Big show square off against Sheamus.

    Unless Shaq is coming?

    I’m cool either way

Looks like we’ll have a heel walk out of the Elimination Chamber champion. I’m hoping it’s Mark Henry over D-Bryan.

The world’s strongest man and the Great White have some unfinished business

rhodes should have won the rumble he’s good in the ring and on the mic skills, and this years rumble sucked because they wasted so many spots on stupid characters i.e micheal cole.

Sheamus is just another “good guy” wrestler with a smile and a thumbs up to the fans/crowd. Was better as a heel. WWE dropped the ball yet again.

I don’t understand WWE’s mindset post roster split back in 2002. They just started shoving new talent down our throats without proper build or character. Cena, Orton, and Batista seemed to be the most successful since then. Cena definitely proved himself, but they dropped the ball by overselling him. Orton was excellent in Evolution, but he got thrown into the title mix too fast because he didn’t have the best mic skills, especially moving into the face zone after being thrown out of the stable. And Batista was also great in Evolution, but as the heel muscleman. He wasn’t a great face muscleman, especially when he went after the title, too. This past decade has just been disappointing since WWE’s competition dwindled.

It made sense for Sheamus to win. Although I wouldve loved to see Jericho win, because I feel that it something he truly needs to really cement his legacy, im fine with sheamus winning. They’ve been pushing and building him since Sunmerslam as a dominant force, but he never truly advanced anywhere. Now it makes perfect sense in the storyline. Bryan and Sheamus were bumped last year off the card to make time for the Rock, now they come back a year later and headline the show. Jericho wins his second elimination chamber defeating cena, Kane, ziggler, and miz.

Probably cuz of the red tights

  • KpNuttzLol

Rhodes or Barrett should have won in all fairness. The curveball was interesting but Sheamus is a 2 time Wwe Champion, he doesn’t need the final boost that the others do. But I’d happily take him over Orton or Jericho.

Slightly off topic but is it just me or did Sheamus look slighty more ginger last night

  • Really

He makes everyone look weak, he is just a pale irish version of HHH
