Backstage News on Why WWE Is Pushing Big Show, More on Daniel Bryan and the Mid-card

– Big Show is main eventing WWE’s Survivor Series pay-per-view with Randy Orton because there’s a renewed effort within WWE to put larger or bigger wrestlers in the spotlight. This is the reason for Show being pushed and why we’ve seen more of Luke Harper and The Great Khali lately.

There’s a feeling that Daniel Bryan was on top for a few months and WWE’s pay-per-view buyrates have been down during that period. The feeling among upper management is that Bryan isn’t a larger than life wrestler and that’s what fans want. They feel a guy like Bryan should be on the mid-card having great matches.

Yeah but when’s he ever around?

  • Austin29

Undertaker is the vet of the locker room! He has been around much longer than Kane!

  • If you don’t understand that Bryan, Punk and Ziggler are “larger than life characters”, I don’t know what the fuck to tell you, honestly. “Larger than life” does not mean “HEY I YELL CONSTANTLY”, nor does it mean you have to have “24 inch pythons”. Your understanding of pro wrestling seems to be exactly in line with WWE’s these days. If you don’t think that Punk and Bryan have “star power”, I feel sorry for you.

  • I am seriously sick to death of hearing this BS about “bigger wrestlers” and “larger than life”. You’re seriously telling me that a guy like Bryan, wacky as hell and athletic as hell, more OVER than just about anyone in the company right now, is not “larger than life”? A guy who gets entire arenas to chant “YES” along with him, is not “larger than life”? Good lord. Shane should have taken over the company from his dad, Vince and HHH are clueless, and the company is in no better hands with HHH than it was before. I just don’t get it. WWE continues to have gold on their hands with guys like MVP, Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, hell even a guy like Zach Rider, and yet all they can do is fall back to pushing the same jokers they’ve pushed for a decade+, or try to make new big stars that constantly fail out of huge roid freaks like Ryback and Big E. I honestly wonder if they’ll ever learn……it wasn’t Bryan’s fault that PPV buys were down. Perhaps if they put out a better product all around, and didn’t feature the show around boring ass Randy Orton? But what would I know?

    In other words:

Triple H and his “B Player” gimmick was a Projection of Vince, and he was trying to sell the fans Internal Policy wrapped up as a Gimmick.

something is really wrong with wwe when they actually think that the fans want to see show vs orton. randy orton and show are so yesterday. I can almost guarantee if they kept punk, bryan, ziggler and ryder in the main card, they would have more than just 10 year old kids cheering for john cena, who in my opinion cant wrestle nearly as good as punk, bryan or ziggler on there worst day. this is why i only watch what parts of wwe i want to on youtube

  • Matthew Farrell

FYI, A lot of people don’t watch WWE anymore (myself included), and that is evidenced by WWE’s sinking ratings. Do you honestly believe Big Show vs Orton is going to draw? It’s going to need a real good undercard to justify it.

They shouldn’t mean anything. Bob Holly was with WWE for 13 years. Does that mean he deserved to be wrestling the world champion in the main event of a ppv? Ofcourse not. Scotty 2 Hotty was a 10 year veteran with the company. So I guess he deserved a world title program too.

  • Mike Wells

Kane is the veteran of the locker room.

By God and sunny Jesus, WWE management is f—–g stupid. Has Big Show ever drawn a dime? No. Is he more over than Daniel Bryan or CM Punk? No. Will he put on a main event quality match worthy of a big 4 ppv? No.

I don’t care what spin HHH, Michael Cole, or any of McMahon’s cronies put on it, Vince McMahon is obsessed with size and big men. He has some sort of inferiority complex. The only reason we ever even got the likes of HBK and Bret was because the steroid scandal put Vince’s back against the wall. The only reason we ever got the likes of Austin or Rock is because WCW was kicking WWF’s ass and McMahon was desperate. Whenever Vince is the only game in town we get the likes of Hogan, Warrior, Cena, Batista, and other roided up freaks that Vince McMahon has a strange psycho-sexual fixation with. The reason PPV buy rates are down isn’t because Bryan, Ziggler, and Punk suck. It’s because your ppv sucks.

You know there comes a point it really doesn’t matter what YOU want to see!! I see a lot of people whine and complain about how crappy the product is but yet you still tune in every week!! Sorry I do like Daniel Bryan as well as Dolph Ziggler but I see Daniel having more of what it takes to go farther than Dolph sorry the overly bleach blond highschool locker room jock gimmick died long long ago!! And as far as Big Show goes lets do keep in mind that as of right now Big Show and Undertaker are the vets of The current locker room! The two of them have been with WWE longer than anyone in that locker room!! And honestly Big Show is deserved his due!! He has been wrestling almost as long as I have been on this earth! Big Show is just as good a main event player and has worked and busted his ass for years!! He more than paid his dues!!

  • ivanov

I don’t think orton is larger than life either

  • Shawn OB

Please don’t use Khali as an example of what people want to see. Evil hasn’t fully triumphed over good in this world just yet.

  • Ramses 2.0

worst shit I f heard!!!! if the writers give us the end ppv like battleground or night of champion what can whey aspect!!

  • The_Shirker

This just makes me want the Survivor Series buyrate to be even worse than the last four PPVs.

  • MrDr3w

With a character-driven product like WWE, they are absolutely right. Their champion/main eventer should be someone larger than life, a la Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, John Cena, or The Rock. Sure, guys like Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler, and Tyson Kidd are tremendous talents and very fun to watch, but they lack that extra star quality that can boost them into the stratosphere.

  • Cropsy

how deflating. I’m not sure if this is WWE management being fuckheads or if your average WWE fan is generally retarded enough to want to see Big Show and Khali main eventing.

  • Kristopher Robinson

Wow that is the worst logic I have ever heard of ….
