Backstage News on Who Is Against WWE Signing Davey Richards & Eddie Edwards and Why

– There has been no deal offered to Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards but signing them is an ongoing discussion within WWE. People within the company are pushing for them to be signed or at least be given a more in-depth look in NXT.

Other people, mainly Triple H, is against signing them because he and others feel that WWE has signed enough indy style guys. The feeling is that they have met their quota when it comes to that kind of wrestler so they need to start looking for more larger than life characters so WWE doesn’t end up with such a one-dimensional roster.

And another incident that’s not as well known, when he was doing a tour of the UK he kicked a guy known as Jack Gallagher so hard he fell unconcious and they had to put the title on Davey because Jack couldn’t continue.

  • Scooter

Not at all, they should hire indy guys but guys who can adapt and work safely to the WWE style.

Not to mention, Davey is really just Bryan jr. in a lot of ways and adds nothing.
Where as Eddie is boring on his own.

I’d rather see guys like the Briscoes get signed personally.

It’s on Youtube you can even here Nigel Mcguiness screaming “it’s not worth this just end it Davey” on commentary. Sure he may just have been selling but given how much work he’s put into making wrestling safer, since his career was ended I’d imagine he believed what he’s saying.

  • millerj265

WOW if that’s true(and im not saying it isn’t i just don’t personally have any knowledge of that incident) then you have a valid argument as to why you think he’s to dangerous and carless in the ring.

  • Kristopher Robinson

I don’t understand your logic. It’s sounds like your saying they shouldn’t hire college football players to the NFL bc they hit to hard lol.

  • Scooter

He gave him a concussion and was told by several people just to cover him and end the match and chose not to.

The guy’s a paramedic for the record.

  • millerj265

Did he seriously injure him? im only asking cause I don’t follow him to a great degree ill watch a match here and there of his but he’s not really anything that special in my eyes.

  • Scooter

Honestly, I love that they’ve signed a lot of indy guys but they’ve already got Daniel Bryan they don’t need two inferior versions of him.
I’d rather see them sign the Briscoes or the Super Smash Brothers as they bring something different.

  • Hunter_13

Im against the signing of the american wolves, HHH is right, they already have good indy-style wrestlers in the roster, so i dont want WWE to become some kind of a Major Indy..Youre complaining about the big men like Ryback, but WWE doesnt have that much of Big Men right now, you have Ryback, Big Show, Kane, Big E Langston, maybe John Cena.. and thats it..others like the great khali appear briefly on TV.. so thats a good point on HHH, mixin big guys with indy-style guys..

  • poko

I actually somewhat agree. I don’t think it would be bad to sign them, as the tag division is so poor that it can only go up, but I do think that the American Wolves are overrated and kind of generic. There are better performers out there. I get the feeling that the WWE is interested in them because they have “the look” as much as anything else.

  • Scooter

Eddie’s not that bad but Davey’s notorious for dropping guys in dangerous ways, just look at what he did to Paul London.

  • You obviously know everything there needs to be known about wrestling. Obviously. It’s a wonder WWE hasn’t hired you.

  • chronoxiong

Just great, more Mason Ryans and Rybacks.

  • millerj265

Not that I disagree with your point on indy wrestlers working much stiffer and at times a more dangerous style, but who exactly have they ever seriously injured and or end there careers? And the same could have been said about Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Antonio Cesaro, and CM Punk but they all transitioned to the wwe style of wrestling just fine. If they were hired they for one wouldn’t be allowed to do the majority of the over the top high impact stuff they do now, and two they would go to NXT to learn the WWE style of wrestling first before debuting on the main roster.

  • Scooter

The American Wolves are overrated, generic, dangerous charisma vaccums who just use a bunch of senseless kicks and head drops instead of telling a story.

And that’s why they shouldn’t be signed.

  • Scooter

Yup you want guys who dangerously jump on guys heads 😀

  • LoganSR71

Come on now Trips, you where at WCDubya once,

    The American Wolves!!!!!! SIGN ‘EM

Then just get MCMG (though I think they’re split but it wouldn’t hurt)Vevlet Sky, C.Daniels of course AJ (oh we can;t have 2 AJs but can have 4 Johns) and of course that Sting vs Taker match that most likely won’t happened……..sorry its….been a long day 🙂

  • Joe W

Sounds to me like Levesque is scared of having more talent from the indy circuit similar to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan who can outwork him in the ring. Edwards and Richards would be great in WWE and would kick Levesque’s ass in the ring, plus once again they’d prove the sorry bastard wrong once again. Plus it would be nice to see new faces rather than The Levesque Family and Randy Boreton every week.

  • Kelly Mercado

it shouldn’t matter if they are indy wrestlers or if they are a larger than life characters my opinion is that if they have the talent and you got what it takes to make it in the wwe then everyone deserves a chance

  • sharkman2

Couldn’t agree more! I’m tired the vanilla midgets already.

  • Matthew Farrell

Who needs Richards and Edwards? We need more guys like Ryback! (that’s sarcasm)

  • randizzle

Triple H loves big men. Exhibit A: Chyna

  • Kristopher Robinson

When having guys apply for a job that could potentially paralyze or kill someone, wouldn’t you want someone who is experienced…..?!

  • Juany

but having 20 body builders is such a deep roster
