Big E Langston & Mark Henry Expected To Feud, WWE Copies Storyline From TNA, More

– As seen Monday night on Raw, WWE Intercontinental Champion Big E Langston and Mark Henry defeated the team of Ryback and Curtis Axel, with Henry being portrayed as a mentor to the young up-and-comer. This alliance is not expected to last, because as of this week, WWE creative has plans for “The World’s Strongest Man” to battle Langston at the Royal Rumble.

– As seen Sunday night at Survivor Series, Mark Henry returned to action by answering Ryback’s open challenge, and defeating him. According to, the short-lived storyline was copied from TNA Wrestling. On Impact Wrestling on Spike TV, former WWE Diva and reigning TNA Women’s Champion Gail Kim has been issuing open challenges, which inspired WWE’s creative department to utilize the idea for themselves.

– According to a source within WWE, plans are in place for the company to heavily focus on tag team competition in 2014, and company officials are contemplating holding a three-day tryout camp for independent wrestling duos early in the year. It is said that WWE honcho Paul “Triple H” Levesque is a huge fan of tag team wrestling.

Exactly. Either that, or people spreading this stuff is from the PG era exclusively.

So basically what this news article is saying is that WWE jumped in their Delorean or Tardis, went back to 2002 and copied a TNA storyline.

Its ridiculous that the dirt sheets want to try and stir up a TNA vs WWE war all the time when there really is no basis in it.

  • The Killswitch

    Indeed he did.

  • Keith Learmonth

To be fair, based on what i’m seeing, TNA is the one copying stories here. AJ winning the title after mouthing off about the company, then leaving? Sounds kind of familiar….

We need Teddy Long to go out there and make these tag team matches!

Didnt a certain Mr Cena make his debut in a Kurt Angle open challenge?

  • AttitudeEraKid

Why would WWE have Henry turn on Big E? They seem to work well together on Raw. WWE should take this tag team and run with it. Mark Henry and Big E can make some noise in the tag team division. I did read where WWE will focus on tag teams in 2014 so why mess something potentially good up? As far as WWE stealing TNA’s “idea” open challenges have been going on for as far as I can remember but I first seen it in WWE. So if anyone is stealing something that has been around for a long time it’s TNA. Anything with TNA should be irrelevant to all wrestling sites.

Just another way for these guys to try to make something out of TNA. The open challenge started with the body slam competition (which is on the 30 years of Wrestlemania mode) between Andre and Big John Studd. Way before Angle and others but very vital. That’s why the golden era was the greatest

  • Yes!3X

Whoever working for that website who suggested WWE stole the idea of an open challenge from TNA’s women’s division of all things must’ve only started watching wrestling a couple of months ago. The idea of the “open challenge” has been around for ages. That’s like saying WWE copied the idea of entrance music or finishing moves from TNA. Wow, what a moron.

  • The Killswitch

Open challenges aren’t a new concept. If anything, TNA copied WWE first. Kurt Angle would have these constantly, putting his olympic gold medal on the line. And I’m sure even he wasn’t the first.

  • MrDr3w

Alleging that WWE would steal ANYTHING from TNA is a bit of a stretch in my mind…
