With excitement brewing for ROH’s return to Rhode Island, ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness has signed the following match-ups, including a very special LOCAL UNDERDOG CHAMPIONSHIP CHALLENGE!

“INKSANITY” VINNIE MARSEGLIA VS JAY LETHAL W/ TAELER HENDRIX
Vinny Marseglia was just a young man looking to make a name for himself in his home town in 2013 when he competed in a Ring of Honor ring for a shot at the World Television Championship. Although Marseglia came up short, he left his mark among ROH officials.
As life sometimes has it, Marseglia would have to wait over two years for another opportunity in an ROH ring. In that time, Marseglia dedicated himself to a lifestyle he calls INKSanity and became a father for the very first time. In December, Marseglia competed against Lio Rush in front of a raucus Philadelphia Crowd. In Philly, Marseglia separated his shoulder but finished the match, nearly defeating the eventual 2016 Top Prospect Tournament winner! Marseglia impressed ROH Matchmaker Nigel McGuinness with his determination and resolve, and McGuinness signed Marseglia to an open contract for ROH’s return to Marseglia’s native Rhode Island.
On the opposing end of that open contract is the ROH World Champion Jay Lethal, a man who has spend two consecutive years as a Ring of Honor World singles champion. Lethal, who was taken by surprise and to the limit by Rush at Supercard of Honor, reportedly laughed while he signed his contract, mumbling something about “a tune-up”.
“Ring of Honor fans have seen me defeat each and every world class competitor that I have faced, proving I am the Greatest First Generation Wrestler. Now, I’m coming to your towns to give these local underdogs opportunities that I spent years to earn!” remarked Lethal. “They should be at my feet thanking me for the opportunity to be in the ring with the greatest wrestler in the world!”
Some have said that Lethal may be turning a new leaf competing with Truth Martini on the shelf, injured by Donovan Dijak in Las Vegas, while others point to actions like his comment and say this is the same vain, arrogant Lethal! Marseglia has been underestimated before and believes this may be his opportunity to shock the world!
With his home town fans behind him, including his one-year old daughter, Marseglia is in for the fight of his life against one of the most dominant champions in ROH history. With the guts he displayed in Philadelphia, many saw a little bit of Rocky in Vinny. Can he take the champion to the proverbial 15 rounds and earn the respect of the champ? Perhaps Marseglia can even defeat Lethal who appears to be overcome by hubris! Or will his night end via Lethal Injection with added insult to injury from the “Poison Princess” Taeler Hendrix?
