Oh Bilal: John Cena Why Are You Still Here?

This past week on Raw John Cena attempted to defend his five moves of doom and lack of wrestling ability to #1 contender for his WWE Title Daniel Bryan. However, we later learned an elbow injury has kept Cena out of the ring since the Money in the Bank pay per view last month. This same injury will likely mean the Cenation will be on hiatus after this Sunday’s Summer Slam. However, why have we been subjected to a non-wrestling WWE Champion for the past month? If this had been anyone else would they have not been stripped of the title or at least asked to vacate it? Most likely, the difference is Cena sells merchandise at a higher rate without having to lift much more than a microphone. It is hard to fault John Cena he has donated the more wishes to the Make-A-Wish foundation than any other person. He has given his all to this company and a significant majority of fans love him for that and will buy his merchandise in all the colors of the rainbow, while the other half of us cannot stand him because he have seen him main event regardless of if he is WWE champion or not.

So I place the blame entirely at the feet of WWE! Instead of a month of promo’s and Wade Barrett vs Daniel Bryan, we could have been given a tournament over the past month that would of rewarded Daniel Bryan with the WWE Title. Aside from that fact he would have faced a greater variety of opponents it would have also helped to elevate other talents. Or better yet Orton could have cashed in the night after Money in the Bank, and Bryan could have earned the #1 contender spot. Instead we are left with the most predictable cash-in situation in WWE history. You have an injured WWE champion who has to make it to Summer Slam (only to lose), an underdog number 1 contender with no clear feud or rematch after winning the title and the McMahon meddling in the match. WWE send Cena home do not rush him back, and let new superstars emerge. As a WWE fan sign put it best “We Have Cen-Enough!” Bueller take it from here.

Do you think John Cena still deserves to defend the WWE title after a month of not actually wrestling?
