Bobby Roode wants to face John Cena

Bobby Roode

The newest SmackDown Live star Bobby Roode recently had an interview with SEScoops.com where he talked about a number of WWE related topics. Below are some of the highlights from the interview:

Talking about his experience at WWE performance centre, Roode said that it was like getting a PHD in professional wrestling:

“Matt Bloom and his coaching staff are phenomenal and very hands on. Triple H has his finger on the pulse at all times. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Shawn Michaels over the last six months. It’s kind of like getting your PHD in professional wrestling when you’re in the room with him, so no complaints.”

When asked about which wrestler he would like to face in the Main Roster, the former NXT Champion said that he would like to work with John Cena:

“There’s a laundry list of guys when you think about RAW and SmackDown that I’ve never been in the ring with. To narrow it down to one, obviously a guy I would love to have a moment with is John Cena.”

Apart from this Bobby Roode also talked about NXT and more.

Barrett went on to become one of the greatest IC champs of all time. Michael McGuillicutty became Curtis Axel, another great IC champ, and also a Paul Heyman guy. Husky Harris? See “Bray Wyatt”. Justin Gabriel became “The Darewolf” PJ Black because of his rub from Cena. Heath Slater wasn’t ready yet, but he just recently started coming into his own. David Otunga…yeesh. Skip Sheffield broke his leg. And the shoot fighter guy sucked, and also got hurt. I can’t even remember his name. Oh yeah, Daniel Bryan was in there too. His career really got destroyed.

Zack Ryder was over with the fans because of his YouTube show, so Cena wanted to work with him, not necessarily because he was a star. Cena also started working with him four years into his WWE career. The Nexus were all WWE rookies. Where was Ryder before his singles run? He was primarily a tag team competitor with Curt Hawkins. So as far as I see it, they gave him a chance and he dropped the ball. The guy wasn’t that good to begin with. He was funny, but it got old fast.

Oh really?? Tell that to the likes of Wade Barrett/The Nexus, Zack Ryder and so on these guys were over and the nexus especially were basically single handedly crapped on

Everyone Cena has “buried” were all elevated during the time of their their feuds, but then dropped the ball themselves afterwords. Just look at who Cena has worked with: Nakamura, Owens, Zayn (his case might have more to do with Vince disliking him personally though), Rusev, Wyatt, AJ Styles, Corbin (obviously put him with Cena because he sucked and working with Cena might have gotten him over), etc. Cena doesn’t work with jobbers. Cena works with bonafide stars. If you get to work with Cena, you’ve made it.

  • Kristopher Robinson

True, but look how many options you had back then. Now, just Cena lol. Me personally, I’d rather have a program with Hunter than Cena.

  • Rob ‘Richard Hammond’ Picken

Yeah great idea, face the guy who will basically kill all your momentum

  • CC

Lets face it, who isn’t gonna say Cena?
Love or hate him, he is the biggest name in the company, and as long as you are not getting buried by him, its one of the biggest rubs you can get to your career.

If you go back years ago, you could say the same of the likes of Austin, Rock, Hogan and Savage etc.
Nobody makes their name facing guys like Brutus Beefcake or Zak Ryder.
