WWE has just recently announced on Twitter that they have released Austin Aries. Here is the official statement on Aries’ release:
“WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Austin Aries. WWE wishes Aries the best in all of his future endeavors.”

Aries signed with WWE in January of 2016. He suffered an orbital socket injury during an NXT live event against Shinsuke Nakamura. Aries served as a commentator for Cruiserweight matches during his injury and then officially joined the Cruiserweight division this past March.
