Bret Comments on Edge, Backstage News on RAW & Brodus Clay, Batista Footage

– Former WWE star Batista is featured in the following behind-the-scenes footage from The Scorpion King 3:

– Bret Hart congratulated Edge on his WWE Hall of Fame induction and says he hopes to be there for the ceremony. The Hitman wrote:

“Congrats to the inductees so far to the WWE HOF, esp. Edge. He’ll always be one of my crew & I hope 2 be there 2 shake his hand that night”

– While WWE officials were happy with the way Brodus Clay returned on Monday’s RAW, the general consensus backstage among the WWE crew was that this week’s show in general was a bad one.

– For those wondering, the “Funk” gimmick for Clay was a new idea from WWE creative and has not been planned the whole time for his return.

@CM Mark, Punk in the main event = Bad Ratings, we’ve seen this week in and week out.

  • Bill

Ironic that WWE management thinks that a good episode of Raw is terrible.

Plz team him with santino…perfect comic relief……not as good as flash funk or too cool but damn itd get me smiling watchin RAW

  • venom

He should keep this gimmick. It was so funny and he stood out from the other big guys.

  • DuffManLovesHimSomeWrestling

I personally like the gimmick somewhat. It is different from the typical “I’m big and scary so I’ll beat you up” heel.

  • Lynx

I’m kinda torn about the whole gimmick. On the one hand, it’s hilarious and it has the potential to get over. If he would’ve come back the way he was being built up, it would’ve been Mark Henry 2.0. One the other hand, you can only get so far doing a comedic gimmick. Just ask Santino Marella.

  • CM Mark

It was bad because they took Punk out of the main event…AGAIN.

  • Jeff

@Shawn. You are actually thinking of Sweet Papi Sanchez as the one who threw candy to the crowd this is a different guy completely

  • Good R-Truth

WWE being spontaneous for once is refreshing, much more original than Jericho’s return. Jericho will be relevant once his true intentions are revealed however Brodus Clay’s re-debut reminds me of an era when WWE was spontaneous.

I think for 1 time in the last 8 years we can say good to have a persona that might be similar to the attitude era … Goldust – brodus clay – undertaker – kane are some of the only wrestlers to have a gimmick that can be use … orton cena mason ryan miz ziggler i could find 100 guys like them in the streets nothing new i hate when they use wrestlers real name it kill a gimmick !!!

I think it could work as long as they keep him winning I think gimmick wrestlers can be good holding main event titles even comedy gimmicks.

  • shawn

i wasnt in love with the match itself. i knew he was going to win because he has the type of personality to go over hawkin’s. i like colorful personalities so maybe he’ll entertain me so i want to see him get more ahead and have good rivalries.

  • Stashathan

Hah loved Brodus Clays gimmic just loved it

  • Andrew

lol @ the screenshot on the video. Looks like the Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz made a special appearance haha

on topic though, I was certainly confused with the whole Brodus Clay thing but I’ll admit, I’m a little bit intrigued at how it’s gonna go. It’s sort of like the PG Godfather or the modern-day Flash Funk, which is interesting seeing as WWE seems to be blending bits of the Attitude-early 2000’s era into its programming now

  • scooter

couldn’t he just get over the same way as mason ryan as an unstoppable monster? the key difference being brodus can actually wrestle!

  • MST 3K

the general concensus was this week’s show was a bad one…..YA THINK???

  • Shawn

I don’t care for the direction of Brodus, but no one should see it as a punishment. Remember, Clay had similar gimmicks in FCW. I know one even involved him throwing candy to the crowd. Don’t be surprised if he does something like that, since WWE is trying to make him a fan favorite (though on the same level of Hornswoggle and Santino).
