British Newspaper Covers CM Punk’s “Chilling Response” To Fan Over Gay Marriage

British news outlet The Mirror has published an article on WWE Champion CM Punk’s “chilling response” to a British fan who disagreed with his views on gay marriage on Monday.

Expressing his disapproval with Amendment 1 Monday morning on Twitter, Punk wrote a message in support of gay marriage being legalized in the state of North Carolina. A Twitter user hailing from Walsall disagreed, writing to the WWE Superstar, “Man was meant for woman, and even the thought of homo’s make me sick.”

Punk posted the message and then wrote “Kill yourself. He also advised another fan who disagreed with him to “drink bleach.”

The newspaper also acknowledged WWE’s affiliation with The Creative Coalition to promote the anti-bullying campaign ‘be a STAR,’ which Punk has represented.

Responding to a user that told Punk to ‘be a STAR’ after telling the British fan to kill himself, he wrote, “hey moron, don’t try to hide behind the be a star campaign. I am a star. I’m fighting bigots here. Zero tolerance.”

The Mirror says his beliefs contrast a homophobic slur he hurled at a fan last July at a WWE live event in Adelaide, Australia. Enclosed in the article is footage of Punk engaging in a verbal altercation with a fan and telling him that he has a “homo” haircut.

  • what?

it’s over with said and done who cares move on

  • Reverse prince albert

i think its fkn fantastic he was told to kill himself, there should be for of these tweets. thats what the cunt deserves for his retarded tweets.. i hope WWE rewards his kindly 😀

  • That guy was being a dick he should go kill himself

  • Bawb

Because I’m sure CM Punk’s “kill yourself” comment was to be taken literary. Come on, it’s a comeback we all have used when someone says something brain dead-stupid, outrageous, or, in this case, intolerant. Big ups to CM Punk for standing up for civil liberties, especially since he is in an industry that is all about “being a man” and bullying. And, for working for a family (the boss) so highly conservative.

And PLEASE, the Mirror using Punk’s “homo” speech while in character? Completely fishing for something, right there. That video should be taken as seriously as the Mirror’s credentials.

@Poko Yeah, and in his opinion, and those of just about every other decent person on earth. People who are hateful and have that way of thinking, DO need to kill themselves. As some have said already, the world would be a much better place without those types of people. If Punk gets in ANY sort of trouble for telling some stupid homophobic fairy-tale believing jackass to kill himself. It’ll definitely put a stop to me watching WWE again, period.

    @Keith Learmonth

You going off on the US for something a British guy said is pretty damn amusing. The issue isn’t what Punk said to begin with, which a lot of people, including myself, agree with, it’s that telling someone to kill themselves because they disagree with you is fucking childish. THAT’S the issue we’re talking about right now. People are on Punk’s case because he followed up something intelligent with something utterly stupid. You can keep trying to link the two concepts, and then link THAT to your own biased preconception of America, but they are two completely separate things. Can you get that? Social acceptance of different lifestyles and “kill yourself” are NOT mutually inclusive ideals.

  • CM Mark

Like I said earlier, this is the type of BAD press WWE will bury you for causing. Punk needs to be a little more careful, he could have said a million other things and got his point across, without saying that. He’ll pay for it in the end.

  • Tony A.

    Punk is a damn hypocrite..

  • Oh, I see the issue now. America. The land of evolution denial. The place where church rules all state issues, even though they’re meant to be separate.

How stupid of me. Obviously, people are on Punk’s case about this because their god says being gay is wrong.

Honestly, I think Punk did the right thing. Harsh words like that were all that idiot would understand. “homo’s make me sick”? It’s okay for someone to deny other people rights that you have, because those people make you “sick”, when you think about them?

Honestly, the world -would- be a better place without that guy in it. He’d be a good candidate for a Darwin award.

  • Cropsy

    yeah if you’re gay.

  • poko

There is a difference between standing up for what you believe in and telling someone to kill themselves.

  • moo

    Punk is clearly gay.

    Push Tyson Kidd #GetHIMonRAW

  • See that “fishing” motion that he’s doing there? Yeah. He baited the guy into a verbal confrontation. The guy fell into it, hook, line and sinker.

Also, he was portraying a “Heel”, or “Villain”, and one who, at the time, was leaving soon, and did not give a damn about the company at all.

CM Punk, The Man, supports gay rights, and hates those who don’t.
CM Punk, The Character, called someone gay to provoke a reaction.

It’s not that damn hard to work out.

  • Cropsy

there’s a difference between standing up for what you believe in and being a bully. Too bad no one gets that.
