Brock Lesnar not defending the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble?

Brock Lesnar did not defend his Universal Championship at Survivor Series and it appears the Beast may not be putting his title on the line at Royal Rumble either.

Dave Meltzer talked about Brock during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio and speculated that he may not defend the title at all at the upcoming PPV since there is no clear opponent for him.

Meltzer talked about all the possible opponents of him and discussed why they are not suitable to face the Beast Incarnate at the upcoming event.

Roman Reigns is out of this list since he is expected to face him at Wrestlemania. His partners Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are out as well because they are currently working in the tag team division.

Putting Bray Wyatt in the position would be a complete waste according to Dave and he also appears to be entering into a feud with Matt Hardy.

Two out of the remaining three candidates are Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman, both who have already faced Lesnar before and they are not being built as possible opponents for him.

The last possible name is Finn Balor, though, Meltzer says that he is not over enough according to Vince McMahon and hence he won’t be getting a Universal title match.

Though it’s worth mentioning here that WWE recently held a poll asking fans who they want to see challenging Brock Lesnar next for the world title. Not only did Finn win this poll but he gained over 60% vote share.

So despite all the speculations about him not getting a title shot, it’s very much possible that the first ever Universal Champion may end up facing the current Champion at the upcoming event.
