Bruce Prichard on if The Rock was WWE’s answer to Goldberg

Goldberg’s rise to stardom coincided with the Rock’s rise to main event status in WWE and both the stars were frequently in the main event of their respective brands in 1998.

Due to the Monday Night Wars, it’s commonly believed that The Rock was WWE’s answer to Goldberg but former WWE Writer Bruce Prichard doesn’t see it that way.

He talked about Rock’s rise during the latest episode of his Something Else to Wrestle podcast, and when asked about this notion, Prichard implied that the Rock was opposite since they were putting their money on younger talents:

Quite the contrary. The Rock was over and Steve Austin was over, it was during the time that when you listened to the audience and you did get feedback on the other guys, majority of the feedback was that we were young and they were old.

Apart from this, Bruce also talked about choosing the Rock as their top star, saying that he had proved himself as a reliable star and prove that he really wanted it.
