Bryan Considered for WWE Title Change Again, Red Gets a WWE Tryout?, More

– Kevin Nash joked with fans that he will be taking over tonight’s RAW now that John Laurinaitis is gone. He wrote:

“Running Raw tomorrow night, going to be epic”

– Writer Paul Guay is currently working on the screenplay for the Bruno Sammartino movie. Guay told that the movie will be completely different from any wrestling movie there has ever been. Guay previously wrote the movie “Liar, Liar” with Jim Carrey.

– As noted before, former TNA star Amazing Red was backstage for WWE’s No Way Out pay-per-view on Sunday. Red was telling fans at the IZOD Center that he had a tryout earlier in the day but wouldn’t say what came out of it.

– For the second pay-per-view in a row, WWE officials reportedly came close to putting the WWE Title on Daniel Bryan. Bryan almost went over CM Punk at WWE’s Over the Limit pay-per-view and was discussed as the potential winner at No Way Out.

@Dan—I wasn’t knocking your (relative) youth, but merely establishing a frame of reference. I started watching wrestling in the middle of Hulk Hogan’s first title run, so I was getting SuperCena’d at the time but just didn’t realize it because I was part of the target audience. Only later was I able to appreciate a lengthy Ric Flair run, so I get what you are saying about the sneaky heel stealing victories. Bobby Roode is a perfect current example of this. I would have no problem at all with Roode keeping it for another 6 months or a year and let different challengers chase him to culminate in a big big title win. I would have less of an issue with Orton or even Cena holding the title if it were for a longer period of time. Instead, by the time they retire they will be 27-time champions with a collection of 2-3 month (or less) title reigns, which IMO is much less impressive than a handful or less of lengthy runs.

Jim Carey should play Bruno Sammartino

  • MrDr3w

Red would be a great addition to the WWE roster, just like Low Ki was. Remember Kaval? Yeah, me either. 😀

  • Colin

I don’t understand your live for bryan do much he is a good old fashioned wrestler yes but in the history of Wwe he is no Wwe champion material how about they start putting ryback in proper matches and build him up to challenge he would dominate for a while Bryan is just as annoying as the miz was as champion

  • guys remember cody rhodes is coming to raw soon so the future of wwe will win the title at summerslam and probally hhh carrer will end at summerslam

  • Tyler(:

CM Punk should of lost the title, doesn’t mean he’d have to drop out of the title picture, but just make him lose it for abit.

He’s half as exciting as last year, bland and overrated ( In my opinion, don’t take it personally poko/SYM and go writing stuff on other articles ).

All I ever seem to hear on this site is praise for CM Punk, yes he is alot better as a champion than Orton/Cena/Show, but for pete’s sake, just have him drop the title to Bryan already.

  • Stumpy

Here is my opinion on the whole Punk being champion for 7 months… Back in the day when they had the champ hold the title for a year or longer, it built them up as being able to stand up against nearly everyone. They didn’t SuperCena them. They made them perfectly imperfect. They would bring on all challengers, have the champ beat most, and then when it was time for the champ to drop the belt, it was to someone so shocking, it made for a great storyline and must see events. Punk will drop it when someone that deserves it comes along. Remember the shock when Mysterio won the belt? No one really saw that coming. When the shock factor comes into play again, Punk will drop the WWE title. Until then, they are trying to stay away from the transitional champion and build up a long reigning champion. I, for on, can wait for the shock factor to happen again. And before anyone can say it, the shock factor is not in Bryan, Christian, Del Rio, or anyone else currently on the roster. At least not in my opinion.

  • adam

@dan Ya or maybe put the title on mvp or someone who deserves it more maybe miz or dolph too

  • Dan

@adam- I agree entirely with what you say about Sheamus, he was much better as a heel in my eyes, and I would probably have less problem if he was a heel with his current run of results. Yes its true Punk does lose almost as much as he wins on Raw and Smackdown. Though in that Ziggler feud, the PPV match was pretty much a glorified squash. I like Punk, but I personally prefer long reigns for heels so steal matches and sneakily scrape through to keep hold of their title.

  • adam

@dan. i wouldnt say punk is becoming like cena or orton because every raw and smackdown punk does suffer losses like he did against ziggler for 3 weeks in a row till the ppv. If any champ is becoming like cena and orton its Sheamus. He hardly loses anymore. I do enjoy watching him but i personally think he should go back to using the high cross powerbomb as a finsher instead of the boot. And be called the celtic warrior the great white is just a lame ass nickname

  • Dan

@GreasyRabbit75- If you must know I’m 21, and I know 7 months isn’t that long compared to how it used to be. I’m just saying that in the modern era, some people get fed up with the same people holding the title for longer than a few months when there are younger talents that arguably are ready to make the step up or at least be given the chance (I know Bryan isn’t that much younger than Punk). I’m not totally against long title runs, just that I think that Punk is slowly becoming like Orton and Cena (admittedly with less reigns) and is at that stage where the WWE are too scared to take it off him more than any other reason.

  • Jimbo

I don’t mind Punk keeping the title, but I’m dreading a feud with Big Slow involving the title.

  • adam

Bryan should of won the wwe title at the ppv punk is a stale champ right now i mean i love his charcter and him as a wrestler but he is better going after the title. Bryan should of got the title at no way out. I did like the end though with aj looking back at punk and smiling but the end seemed messed up. I mean for the last 5 minutes of the match bryan was no were to be found i hope he wasnt hurt. As for the world heavy weight title dolph should of won sheamus is just a boring champion.

  • Little Jimmy

Red would be a great addition, WWE should bring back the CW title.

  • GreasyRabbit75

@Dan—Seven months is “far too long”? How old are you? Randy Savage’s year with the belt would have made you squirm, Hulk Hogan’s four years with it would have sent you into a conniption fit, and Bruno Sammartino’s 7 1/2 years would have made your head explode. I understand the days of the years-long title dynasty are over, but that doesn’t mean that everybody has to be a transitional champion.

  • WeAreOne

Get Red he is amazing talent and Bryan will win it at Summerslam like he should

  • Turn Off The Dark

Sign Red. For the love of god and all that is holy.

  • Soulshroude

Bryan has it by Summerslam, a perfect timing for his rep.

  • Arrrr truth

Not even a year ago everyone complained about the title moving around too much and losing its credibility. While it hasn’t been the main event since December, punk has beaten Miz, Del Rio, Ziggler, Jericho, Bryan and has had a solid title run. Much like Bobby Roode, I think it’s great to see a top title stay put for more than two months. Now we just need a legitimate looking title belt.

  • Logan

“The Technical Messiah” Alex Shelley and Amazing Red (possibly) signing with WWE holy crap. I would love to see a stable with former ROH guys or like what scooter said “rebuild the tag division” PLEASE! And get Sabin (get well dude)too!

Random thought I think Bryan Danielson is the only guy out of Bourne(Sydal), Punk, Alex and Red that hasn’t been to TNA.

  • Stevie P

I wonder if that’s why Punk tweeted what he did and deleted them. Maybe he felt Bryan should have won the title.

  • Dan

No Way Out was a good opportunity to take the title off Punk cleanly without making him look too weak. As one of the main faces in the company its highly unlikely that he’s going to tap out and Bryan only really has a submission finisher. Having Kane in the match added the opportunity for a “monster” to lay out Punk with a chokeslam and Bryan to steal the pin. Now Punk is becoming like Cena and Orton, holding onto the title for far too long and unlikely to lose it cleanly, its only a matter of time before people view him in the same way as Cena and Orton, in spite of his superior in ring and mic skills.

  • rko

Bryan with the title? Yes! Yes! Yes!

  • Bill

Well, if Punk is going to keep it for longer, I say let a young guy like Ziggler beat him for it at Summerslam. Don’t even consider having him face Big Show.

  • scooter

    Sign red
    tag him up with bourne
    rebuild the tag division.

  • Once You Go Bryan, There’s No Point In Tryin

It was the perfect time to put it on Bryan as well. Bryan could have held the title until Summerslam and had Punk chase him. He could have at least had a 50+ day reign as champ and now he’s looking at maybe a 30+ day if they put him as champ at MITB.

Poor booking decision again by WWE. Who the hell booked the finish to that match? Haven’t we seen that before? Hmmm…
