While WWE has been doing some cross-promotional stuff recently by allowing several stars to compete at other promotions, it appears that Chris Jericho was way too positive about the company’s decision and he pitched an idea which not many can imagine.
The current IWGP Intercontinental Champion revealed on the recent episode of his Talk Is Jericho podcast that he had pitched the idea of doing and WWE IC Champion vs. NJPW IC Champion match at the upcoming SummerSlam PPV.
While Jericho didn’t reveal which WWE executive he pitched the angle exactly to, the former World Champion said that he got a decent response from him at first, just to never hear back:
“I literally could have, I checked, trust me, and the show is like in Greenville, South Carolina, or something. I could have been there at 4 pm, I could have ran through the crowd, attacked Seth Rollins, made the challenge, made the match, Jericho vs. Rollins, IC title vs. IC title. I pitched it, got a decent response, and never heard another word again.”
As we noted before Jericho recently made a cryptic tweet and promised the fans an interesting 2019, starting the speculation that the NJPW Star can work for other promotions in upcoming time as well.
