Chris Jericho reveals the finish of Championship match at Battleground was botched

We noted before how the obscure finish of the United States Championship match between AJ Styles and Kevin Owens at Battleground PPV raised many questions among fans.

Owens won the title during the bout whose finish appeared to be botched and the rumors that they screwed up only got stronger after the company put the belt back on AJ two nights later on SmackDown Live. Now Chris Jericho has confirmed that they had screwed up the finish.

Jericho recently appeared on Busted Open Radio and while talking about his recent WWE return, the former World Champion revealed that the finish of the Battleground match was botched:

“The idea was for me to work with AJ on Tuesday, and do nothing with Kevin. And then the match happened on the Sunday and they legitimately screwed it up, it happens sometimes – the finish didn’t work… whatever happened.”

Continuing on the topic, Jericho also said that they changed the scheduled match between him and AJ Styles on SmackDown into a triple threat to put the belt back on the Phenomenal One.
