Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson teased the idea of running for president over the past few years, appearing on Saturday Night Live and Ellen to lightheartedly joke about the notion.

However, Rocky told GQ that running for president was a real possibility. The Great One’s former rival Chris Jericho had a chance to talk about it while being interviewed by Business Insider, and he seems to think Johnson has a real shot. The IWGP Intercontinental Champion compared Johnson to Arnold Schwarzenegger in regards to his career and feels that politics is the next step.

Everything the guy does turns to gold. Why wouldn’t he want to try politics? I think The Rock, if you look at how he’s built his career, much like Schwarzenegger when he became the Governor of California, when you work to a certain level…how much bigger can you get? How much more can you do?

Jericho then went on to compare the idea of The Rock becoming president to the country’s current President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama.

We’ve entered an era now having Trump in the office, whether you agree or don’t, he got in because of his celebrity. That’s exactly why. He knew how to play the camera. He knew how to deliver lines. He knew how to be charismatic enough to get people on his side, and that’s what politics is.

You know, even Barack Obama. As long as you have some money behind you and can deliver lines charismatically, I think Rocky has a chance to really get in there and take over if he wants to do it.

Over the summer, The Rock delayed any plans of a run at the presidency, stating that he had more to learn about the position. However, he said that he could still run in 2024.
