CM Punk Discusses Ice Cream Bars, Future of WWE PG and Wrestling in 10 Years

– WWE Champion CM Punk spoke with to promote Monday’s RAW. Here are a few highlights:

A lot of past fans who have stopped watching the product since the PG rating are calling for the TV-14 rating to return. You toe the line really well with your promos, but do you think the “Attitude Era” needs to return?

I don’t think the WWE is going to go anything but PG. I don’t see the need for the TV-14 rating because that was the past and we are opening new doors to fans across the world. Swearing to just swear isn’t entertaining to me whatever you’re watching. There are some things I get away with, but at the same time I have to remember it is a family-orientated show. I think the product in general is a lot better when we have to police ourselves, knowing that families are out there watching and listening to every word. The so-called “Attitude Era” is not needed in this day in age of sports entertainment.

Back in the early 2000s there were these popular ice-cream bars that had WWE wrestlers on them. You recently brought the idea back into play and there has been a lot of demand for them to make a return. Will we see them reintroduced by next summer?

I really am hoping that does happen. A lot of people don’t realize that when I mouthed off about the ice-cream bars they wanted them the next day. It’s a licensing issue, and we are working with the proper people to bring them back. We want them back by the “ice-cream season,” as you can say, so next summer is a good possibility. Although I don’t think there is a day where I wouldn’t go without eating ice-cream.

Where do you see the wrestling product in 10 years?

Hopefully in a better place than it is now. I would like to see younger talent introduced to the fans and they get chances to show they have what it takes. I’ve been very vocal about the things that are wrong with the sport and hopefully they are being looked at to be changed.

As for what I’m doing in 10 years? I don’t know what I’m doing in the next 10 minutes but surely I don’t want to be in the ring 10 years for now. I know guys that have done it and I’ve done so much already in the sport. I would like to be one of those guys that doesn’t need surgeries to continue to try to get that extra payday. Hopefully I can just disappear.

Garrett is a wrestler, he was trained for 2 years under the 3D school.

Adult content can have comedy in it you know.

Jeff Hardy is clean now so fuck off with that. Him and Roode are still more entertaining then the entire wwe kiddy roster.

Well TNA has 4 tag teams and are trying to make more which they have now with two of the random teams so yeah it worked.

    Tyler = WWE kiddy retard

  • Tyler(:

‘Great adult wrestling story lines’ oh yeah, a non-wrestler father against a non-wrestler son.

A comedy character against a rip off character for the TV Belt.

A druggie versus a very boring heel for the main title.

A tag team division diveded by a crappy wildcard crap tournement.

  • Jason

Fuck Punk and WWE PG. TNA is the promotion to watch if you want great adult wrestling/ story lines.

Did you really think a guy like CM Punk would be for the Attitude Era because I sure did not. Why because of CM Punk life style. To me the only people who likes the Attitude era are people who really never care for wrestling to begin with which is why CM Punk is going to be now hated. CM Punk is not a junkies nor is he an entertainer he is a Pro Wrestler something a lot of the Attitude era fans are not. I see Attitude fans are more for the violent type, trash talking and less wrestling. In other words they are not fans of Pro Wrestling itself which is why they don’t like Punk. CM Punk is a Pro wrestler that is what he lives for an something Pro Wrestling has been missing. Plus he is not a junkies which a lot of those wrestler were back in the Attitude era.

I saw this coming a mile away with some of internet fans turning on CM Punk. It just goes to show when it comes to pro wrestling some of the internet fans don’t seem to know what they are talking about. I read the stuff that are said on the internet an say that is what the Attitude era brought. An that is what the WWE is trying to clean up. It is good for business. Maybe not is the short run but in the long run heck yeah.

although i disagree with him about the attitude era(though i only started watching in ’05 so i dont know much about it) i actually loved the beginning of raw and how it was different to the usual welcome to raw here are the matches, it gave other talent a chance to have their say and be on tv and thats what he wants right?

Lol alll of thee above.. Your all total retards! If u were earning 100k a year and because 10-15% of your fans wanted u to change stuff… That would lead to you earning only half that money with less popularity and result in you losing most of the leftover percentage of fans… Would you do it…NO didnt think so. So stfu attitude is dead we live in a world where u can be sued for calling people names… Do u really think wwe could ever bring attitude back!

And agree Punk is boring. How corny was his opening promo on Raw. Yet he calls Rock and Cena corny. The Rock actually entertains me.

  • John

Isn’t it touching. Punk has become such a “company man”. Vince McMahon and John Cena should be proud.

  • Kamala’s Foot

Pretty much what Punk is saying is that he doesn’t want to be another Kevin Nash. If they bring these ice cream bars, keep them away from Fatt Lardy.

  • Tyler(:

I agree with Epic and disagree.

Punk’s just another commercial loving dickhead. He hasn’t changed shit, and had a little bitchfit to get a championship ‘Oh! Im leaving wah wah wah’.

    Fuck off Punk, you’re boring.

  • Epic

Fail Punk , you like Cena can go to HELL with your PG .

  • Prince

I have to say I wouldn’t mind seeing Shaq vs. Show. Show is pretty good at making celebs look good. He usually does a good job with the build. He will need to be heel though for sure.

  • for the first time i actually DISAGREE with CM Punk! WWE needs to get rid of the PG era real fast and quick! we need all the action and drama back, all the huge main events to the Rated R Divas!
