Following an incident involving CM Punk and fans at Monday night’s Raw event in Sacramento, California, WWE issued an official statement through its official website expressing regret that proper security measures were not set. The WWE Champion also gave his side of the story.

WWE’s official statement reads: “During Monday night’s Raw televised event, WWE Superstar CM Punk exited the ring and into the stands as part of the show. Unfortunately, WWE security was not in the appropriate place at the time. Given CM Punk’s persona as a ‘bad guy,’ fans were naturally heckling him, but unfortunately a few fans began shoving him, and one struck him in the kidney and on the back. WWE regrets that proper security measures were not in place, and CM Punk apologizes for reacting in the heat of the moment. Other than this isolated incident, WWE always provides proper security to ensure the safety of our fans and our performers.”

“I think the whole situation sucks,” Punk told WWE.com. “It’s an unfortunate and isolated incident. I was up in the stands, surrounded.”

“Somebody said, ‘let’s push him down the stairs,’” Punk explained. “I got hit in the ribs three times. I was getting shoved and I was getting punched…Then I started getting tagged in the back of the head. Unfortunately, I lashed out in the heat of the moment and I apologize. I’m really just glad nobody was hurt.”

first off punk should have not have reacted the way he did but it was wrong the crowd even hit him its not like the crowd is a wwe wrestler and punk was only doing his job.

  • Robert

Another thing for WWE to ban now! Don’t expect to see any more wrestlers in the crowds for a long time. F**k this PG crap

  • grizz

FIRE Punk now or I will stop watching.

  • Turn Off The Dark

@Shawn The “Douchebag” was an innocent member of the audience that CM Punk put his hands on when the guy didn’t even punch Punk or anything like that. Punk attacked an innocent person in the crowd that PAID to see the show. THAT is the big deal.

And the guy is a better man than I, because I’m sorry, if Punk would have attacked me for no reason like that, I would be suing the pants off of him. Just sayin’.

  • Shawn

CM Punk did what he had to do. It has him against hundreds. Proper security was not in place. The douchebag wearing sunglasses inside, at night, got bonked on the head. Oh, no! Everyone is fine so I don’t see what the big deal is, honestly.

  • just saying

@what? do you know how stupid you and most people sound when saying wrestling is fake??? if you put a head lock on someone. them knowing your doing it or not. it is still wrestling. which believe it or not thats what they call it. it is real wrestling. they do not call me self worlds fighting entertainment then it would be fake if they came out and wrestled. but, guess what they call it wrestling.

  • just saying

punk shouldnt be sorry. he was just defending him self. punk always will be the best in the world. no matter how many fans he beats up. them fans deserved it. hats off to punk dont take no shit from nobody

  • what?

@Zombie Plague don’t let these punk tools bother you few years back punk pulled some shit on a kid and made them cry and all the punk tools thought it was just fine im waiting on the day punk will pull his bullshit on the wrong person and get his punk ass kicked . to the rest of you .you do know wrestling is fake right? punks not a real fighter you do understand this right? and get off his nuts

  • Mabry

i just checked Teyes Twitter, and the guy doesnt exist anymore. I guess this dumbass is running from twitter now, just as he runned from Punk…

  • DiamondSkye

Back in the old days I heard Classy Freddie Blassie got stabbed by a fan in the audience.

  • CM Mark

I don’t know about you guys but I thought it was great when Punk smacked that dude in the face. I’ve watched the slo mo several times. That guy did make contact with Punk’s head, on purpose or not, he did make contact. Just sayin’.

I still think Punk will pay for this. I have a bad feeling about HIAC and food and botched finishers.

  • Tombstone

    ^^^^^Dumbass^^^^^^^^

  • Zombie Plague

He hit the wrong person. Throw his sorry butt in jail.

  • S_Napalm

I doubt it, they’ll just make sure the darn security actually do their jobs in future

  • JohnCena33

I wonder if WWE will ban stars from going into the crowd now.

  • Joe John

I mean, pretty sure WWE knew that the show would end with Punk in the crowd, they should of been ready. The security showed up after the incident.

  • JohnCena33

Idiot fans messing with Punk who is just doing his job. Punk shouldn’t have been hit and security should have been around.

  • Joe John

Everyone was wrong in this situation, the fans, CM Punk, & WWE. Plenty of blame to go around & share.
