Daley Willing To Risk Strikeforce Title Shot

The Strikeforce welterweight title will be up for grabs following the Nick Diaz vs. Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos match up in the cage this Saturday night, and as of now, Paul “Semtex” Daley is the number one contender for the title.

Daley has been assured the next slot on the card at this weekend’s winner, however Daley isn’t about to wait patiently on the sidelines until then, therefore Daley will risk his number one status when he steps in the cage with Yuya Shirai BAMMA 5 which is set to take place on February 26th.

Many have question why Daley would be willing to risk his status, with several concluding that when you’ve got a fighting spirit as Semtex does, sitting on the benches and waiting just isn’t an option.

A loss to Shirai definitely means “the deck gets reschuffled” according to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker. This would mean that Daley would no longer take place as the number one contender against Nick Diaz for the title.

Daley seems quite confident going into the bout with Shirai, hopefully he won’t be kicking himself all the way back to the bench if the bout doesn’t go in his favor causing him to lose his number one spot.
