- World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan recently spoke with TheDailyWorld.com to promote WrestleMania 28. Here are some highlights:

Winning the World Heavyweight Title:
“It was crazy. I’ve been doing this for 12 years and a lot of people thought I couldn’t succeed at this. It was vindication, that I reached the top. When people are doubting you that much, sometimes you doubt yourself. It was more retrospective — I can’t believe I went through all of that and I’m at this moment.”

Being a heel and a vegan:
“I never thought (being a vegan) would turn me into a bad guy. The way we’ve (incorporated it) it has been kind of fun. It is the personality that makes people hate me — winning my matches by disqualification, cheap ways to win, claiming I’m a role model because I don’t eat meat. It all gets under people’s skins.”

“I’ve always loved being a bad guy; there’s something more fun about it. It always makes me smile. Now, I’ll hear my music and (the crowd) instantly starts booing. I have to keep myself from laughing, because it makes me happy.”

WrestleMania 28:
“I’m not nervous about the match, but I’m excited about the experience. We’re not afraid to hit each other. Some guys like to fight. I like to fight. Sheamus was a bouncer for years. There’s something about being in front of a large crowd and getting hit. It fires you up. We want to steal the show, even with Rock vs. Cena (on the card).”

Sheamus is the worst wrestler ever.

  • Devil_Rising

I’m not Sheamus fan. He is, for all intents and purposes, just another limited moveset “big guy” that HHH and Vince seem to like so much.

But I’m glad for Bryan Danielson. Even if they’ve made his heel character a total bitch…I suppose he does at least still get clean victories sometimes. Hell, he even won the Elimination Chamber clean, without cheating. Of course, naturally, I have a feeling Sheamus is going to win the belt at WM. But we’ll see.

The only problem I have, is WWE using things like Straight Edge and Vegan for “bad guy” characters. Kind of sends kids (and people in general) the wrong message. There’s something wrong when you get kids booing someone who says they don’t smoke drink or do drugs, and cheering people who get drunk all the time (Stone Cold, etc.). Kind of odd that they would go from Hogan (Say your prayers, eat your vitamins, etc.), to having kids boo what is more or less good lifestyles.

    Sheamus sucks albino monkey ass!
He’s overrated and can’t wrestle in the ring. HELL, Cena has more moves than WHITEY.

    Fucking ginger.

  • TS93

Of course he’s not nervous its only been a year since their last mania match

  • Justin Sane

I wonder if he’s gonna start saying “I have til 5.”
    That’d be epic.

  • k91xxx

The great white hype does suxxx in the ring! but I like him it should be a good match because the american dragon is a great worker ! I’m going 2 WM it better be a good match

  • shawn

they’re not going to win. the Miz will i think.:)

  • poko

Sheamus is getting pushed hard, and he’s way over, but I hope it doesn’t even up being a squash feud. Bryan and Sheamus should have a long series, with a few back and forth victories, before Sheamus wins the title. That would put BOTH of them over; Bryan would look like a main event guy, and Sheamus wouldn’t look like a paper champion who beat a weak heel for the championship.

The WWE seems to have lost the ability to build long-lasting, bitter rivalries. Now the face usually gets a squash win after two PPVs, then the two guys inexplicably start fighting someone else, seemingly at random.
