Date Revealed for Jack Swagger’s Next MMA Fight

The date for former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger’s next mixed martial arts (MMA) fight has been confirmed. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani reports that Swagger will fight at Bellator 221 on May 11th from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois.

An opponent has not been announced as of this writing. However, that’s expected to change in the coming weeks. It’s no surprise Swagger will compete on this card. He’s already one of the more notable names in the division just off his pro wrestling background alone.

However, Bellator 221 features a massive main event. Featherweight champion Patricio “Pitbull” Freire is jumping up to 155 pounds to challenge for Michael Chandler’s title. It will undoubtedly be one of Bellator’s biggest events of the year. Swagger (real name Jake Hager) made his MMA debut at Bellator 214 last month.

He defeated opponent J.W. Kiser via first-round submission. “The All American’s” amateur wrestling background played a huge part in the win, as expected. He took Kiser down and beat him badly with ground-and-pound.

After sinking in an arm-triangle choke, Kiser had no choice but to tap out. It will be interesting to see how well he does in his second fight, and the level of competition he’ll receive next.
