Dave Bautista Posts Blog Remembering Eddie Guerrero, Takes Shot At WWE

Today marks the six-year anniversary of the passing of Eddie Guerrero. He was found unconscious in his hotel room in Minneapolis, Minnesota, by his nephew, Chavo. Chavo attempted CPR, but Eddie was pronounced dead when paramedics arrived on the scene. He was thirty-eight years old. An autopsy revealed that Eddie died as a result of acute heart failure due to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Dave Bautista posted a lengthy statement on Twitter remembering his fallen friend, who he was aligned with on television during his final days. The multi-time champion also takes a shot at WWE during his piece.

Bautista wrote, “Got a text from my homie @sonnyblowdro when I woke up asking me if I was ok, I assumed he was referring to Manny’s fight last night. I automatically got defensive!! Styles make fights! Manny always has trouble with Marquez!! He still won!! Then when he said he wasn’t asking because of Manny I quickly realized that today was Nov.13th….the day Eddie Guerrero was taken from us 6 years ago.

“So I’m in beautiful Tampa, Florida and the sun is shining and weather is perfect but somehow this is a depressing ass day..and I know it is for alot of other people as well. I think what bothers me most is that I never really got that chance to tell Eddie what a huge impact he made on my life and my career. Honestly, even if I had the chance to tell him, it still wouldn’t have made it any easier because the fact is that I loved the hell out of Eddie and it just plain sucks that he’s not here anymore!

“As plain as day I can still hear Angie scream and then look at me and say “i just got a message from Dr.Rios…..Eddie’s dead”. I wish I could erase that from my memory. I haven’t found closure on this. I don’t think I ever will. I know alot of people won’t. It bugs the shit out of me that there’s millions of young wrestling fans who won’t get to see how brilliant Eddie was in the ring. He’s the only guy I know who could have you in tears laughing and then make you want to rip his head off within minutes. What I personally loved most about Eddie was that he didn’t define people by their mistakes. he made alot and he never forgot that. He didn’t pass judgement…which is so common in the HOLIER THAN THOU world of the WWE.

“Eddie was also the slowest walking human being alive…which always amused the hell out of me for some reason. I don’t know how he ever got anywhere!! I could go on and on but I’ll end it by saying this. Eddie..I miss you, I love you, and you are gone but never forgotten. RIP my brother.”

Hulk Hogan IS the black Hulk Hogan. Tannest white guy I’ve ever seen. WM 18, Hogan vs. Rock… Hogan was darker than Rock for Christ’s sake lol.

R.I.P. Eddie. One of the best. It’s a shame he didn’t get another run with the world title. He deserved it.

Wow, W-E won’t even call him Batista. I doubt he’ll return, yet he’s in WWE ’12 & Jericho isn’t. How? What issues did they have?

  • CC

To be honest, I cant see why they make a point of saying “takes a shot at WWE” in the story title as it was a very minor comment, and more of a known fact that a lot of guys in the locker room think they are better than everyone else. (hell, you could add Batista’s name to the holy than thou list from stories we have read about him in the past).

This story should have just been about relating Batista’s feelings about Eddie, not try for gutter press reporting by pointing out one minor comment made.

But then again this is a wrestling website

  • Superman

Well if you ask Me pacquiao lost that fight but they wanted to keep his fight with maywether a possibility which explains the way the judges ” saw ” the fight and thus scored it as it was IMO

Straight Edge. Don’t put your hate on Rey. He had to follow his script. WWE were the ones who thought they could use Eddies death to get Rey over.

  • Dave

Still remember Eddies final ECW match against Dean Malenko. One of the finest matches ever. The locker room empties after the match, and both of them were carried aloft by their peers. And rightly so, because it had been a match for the ages. I would even go so far as to say better than Savage, Steamboat from Wrestlemania.
And praise doesn’t come any higher than that.

  • Straight-edge

it wasn’t disrespectful when he said that. he was meaning it as let him RIP he is dead. rey was using his death to get the fans support to become champion. i couldnt stand the sight of rey since. because he was good enough without the use of eddies death to become champ. i know it wasn’t rey doing. he was told to say it. but stiil never looked at him the same.

  • sam

Batista hated that he had to say that for the storyline

  • PinkSinCara

All I could think of while reading this was Batista’s promo w/ Rey when he coldly said “EDDIE’S DEAD!”
