Drake Maverick explains his reasoning behind managing AOP

Many fans, especially those who keep up with 205 Live, were a bit confused, to say the least, when Drake Maverick appeared on Monday Night Raw with the Authors of Pain.

Drake has spent the entirety of his WWE career as a babyface general manager for the cruiserweight division on 205 Live. On his social media, you’ll find various posts about the incredible potential of the 205 roster and how proud he is of the competitors on the purple brand.

That’s why it came as a surprise when we saw him accompanying AOP to the ring on Raw, wearing the same gear as Akam and Rezar. Before the brutal assault of their “competition,” Drake addressed the WWE Universe, claiming that he’ll make AOP the Raw Tag Team Champions.

Drake took to Twitter today to further attempt to explain his alignment with the former NXT Tag Team Champs. He explained that he is able to recognize untapped potential and bring it outward, which is what he did with 205 Live. Now, he plans on turning AOP’s potential into results.

Drake says he can empower their sadistic instincts and is unleashing the duo on Monday Night Raw.

Now that we’ve had a few days to digest the idea of Drake Maverick as AOP’s manager, what do you think about the decision? Can he bring out the potential that’s hiding in AOP, or will Akam and Rezar sink further into obscurity?

No explanation needed, your selling point is moot. It’s scripted. These people need to “catch the net”. Period.

    Should have kept Paul Ellering.

The only thing I find odd about this is that Drake is a face on 205, and is managing a heel team on Raw.

Other than that, I’m fine with it. I say, either turn AoP face somehow, or turn Drake heel. Even go so far as to have him use AoP to punish cruiserweights who cross him on 205.
