Every year, WWE looks to surprise fans with the Royal Rumble match by having superstars debut in order to get the crowd excited. The superstars could be from NXT or anywhere else. The most famous appearance in recent memory would be AJ Styles’ appearing in Royal Rumble 2016.
On Barnburner’s No Holds Barred podcast, Joe Peisich reported that NXT Superstar EC3 will be competing in the Royal Rumble match. The question remains as to what WWE has planned for him once he makes his main roster debut.
EC3 was set for a main roster call-up around the time for Summerslam. But due to his suffering a concussion during his match with Velveteen Dream at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV, that no longer happened.
So for the time being, we will have to wait until he eventually makes his debut. After all, WWE has not been keeping him in NXT and not focusing on him without reason.
