Edge says Okada vs Omega got him back into watching wrestling

Edge did a lot in his Hall Of Fame career but when he had to hang up his boots he decided to separate himself from pro wrestling the best he could. He dropped all of the current television watching from his daily routine and took a long break from sports entertainment entirely.

Edge and Christian recently spoke to Kenny Omega on their Pod Of Awesomeness when Okada vs Omega came up in conversation. After Kenny talked about how this amazing match came together Edge revealed something which is a testament to how great that match really was.

“It was a buddy of mine in Ireland who said you gotta see [Okada vs Omega] so I went ‘okay.’ Cause I’m out of the loop — I was out of the loop for a long time. You know I’ve said it on this show previously that after I retired I was burnt out. I just needed a break. I needed to not think about it, not see it, not — just be away.”

“So my buddy over there, I’m on a set with him you know we’re filming Vikings and he goes, ‘dude you gotta see all this stuff you gotta see this stuff that’s happening’ and I was like, ‘okay I’ll get caught up’ and I did. And I said AJ [Styles], [Kenny Omega], Nakamura all of these matches started pulling me in and then like here I am. I’m like ‘okay I gotta get caught up now. Now I gotta go back and watch all this stuff back and see what I’ve been missing. And that in turn pulls me into watching AJ’s stuff in WWE.”

So if you’re a fan of Edge since his retirement for his work on WWE Network or his podcast, you have Okada vs Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 11 to thank for that because without that outstanding contest Edge might very well still be on his pro wrestling shutout.
