ESPN & WWE confirm D-Generation X Hall of Fame induction

Earlier today, rumors began swirling regarding a certain rebel group being added to this year’s WWE Hall of Fame. Last night, a fan tweeted out the video of a commercial showing highlight footage of D-Generation X, followed by ticket information for the event. Today, ESPN broke the news that the group would indeed be inducted into this year’s Hall of Fame via an interview with one of the original members, Triple H.

In the interview, The Game said that it means a lot to be able to go in as a unit.

I think it’s the most meaningful for us all to go in together and to be recognized together. Because I think both groups were just as impactful.

Triple H spoke on what it was like bringing Chyna in as the enforcer of the group.

It was completely different. No one had ever had a female [enforcer] before, especially one like that. It just worked out. The timing was right.

Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Chyna, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and X-Pac will all be inducted together. And though fans are sure to be excited about Chyna’s long overdue induction, Triple H stood by those words he said many years ago in regards to why they couldn’t induct her initially.

Look, people believe what they want to believe. What I said a few years ago on the Austin podcast, there’s complexities around it. But [she] absolutely, definitely deserves to be in there. It’d be tough to pick a female that was more impactful on the business. She earned everybody’s trust. She won over the fans. She won over the boys. She did all of it.

Absolutely 100% deserves to be in the Hall of Fame, and should probably be more than once, as a group but individually as well. There’s more complexity than meets the eye, but here we are.

After ESPN’s story broke, the WWE made the official announcement on their website.
