Home » WWE News » Evan Bourne Talks About Smoking Synthetic Weed In WWE, Apologizing to Kofi Kingston, More

- Former WWE Superstar Evan Bourne (Matt Sydal) did a live shoot interview with Kayfabe Commentaries this weekend. Replays can be found at this link for $15.99. Bourne was asked about being suspended by WWE for failing a drug test and if he regrets it. He replied:

“Do I regret it? Duh. Basically I failed for that synthetic marijuana which I was smoking instead of normal marijuana for some ridiculous reason. I thought I could get away with it and I did for a while. Then I got caught and I was like, ‘well I don’t do that anymore.’ Then lo and behold I ended up doing it again the night before a test, the second time, and that was that. That was that. Very Very much regret it, duh. What kind of question is that?”

Bourne was asked by another fan what kind of synthetic marijuana he smoked. He replied:

“I smoked this garbage called Serenity Now, which in the beginning was a lot like weed except I could smoke it and not fail my test for weed, which had been a problem. I failed a couple tests for marijuana. I was trying to not do that because it stays in your system for a while. I was like, ‘I can just try this stuff, it tastes good, it’s fine.’ What happened was, as it grew in popularity, the formulas changed and the stuff started getting really bad. But by then I was kind of hooked on smoking it all the time. I was buying way too much of it.”

Bourne went on to say that he will never smoke “spice” again and hasn’t in a long time. He felt bad about screwing tag team partner Kofi Kingston over and apologized to him before the drug test results even came back. He said Kofi was supportive the whole time and does not smoke marijuana.

I know there’s a long list of wrestlers who work under the influence. Trust me, I know mary jane ain’t as bad as some of the other things people abuse but no matter what, all wrestlers on a card should be sober for the show. It’s a liability thing and a protect your fellow wrestler at all costs thing.

  • J-SMOOTH

Yeah but I knw for fact he wasn’t alone and whether it’s known or not they other party got a slap on hand or not they still work there

  • J-SMOOTH

Man so true and full truth about that day. no names so they won’t get fired. they GOT high before the show started, right before his match, and after the show. It was 5 guys with him that day to, before the show, 3 before the match, and the same 5 after. But I guess it affected his performance and nobody else’s. who knws.

not really. if they tell their employees not to do it, then they do it, thats on the employee not the company. cant blame anyone other than Bourne in this case. All companies have rules we dont agree with, but that doesnt mean we can break them and cry about it because of that. In Bournes case he admits he screwed up, so at least he isnt whining like some do.

It’s stupid for them to be upset about marijuana in the first place.

  • J-SMOOTH

Told u, I caught that guy rolling up after a show in Monroe,LA…. It’s stupid though for them to be upset with him because he wasn’t the only one
