Hulk Hogan says the NWO would “murder” the Shield

The NWO Reunion Tour was announced by Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash back in August. The bad guys begin their tour on October 27 in Orlando, Florida.

To hype up their reunion, Hulk Hogan spoke to TMZ Sports.

Brother I told you guys this was 4-Life! It’s been over 20 years, and it’s still the talk of the wrestling business. You always see the NWO shirts in the audience. So myself, Big Kevin and Scott Hall, we all decided that after 20 years, we’ve all made appearances, but never together before. All the promoters, all the comic cons and everybody all over the country, they want the original three.

When asked about the Shield facing off against the Prime NWO, Hogan said they would “murder the bums.”

We would murder the bums, brother! We’d kill them! We laid the ground rules for taking shortcuts. We laid the ground rules, there’s no substitute for victory.

We taught them almost everything we know!

While the Hulkster thinks the NWO is the greatest group of all time, the WWE clearly believe that the Shield could handle Hogan, Hall, and Nash.

What dominant faction do you think would come out on top? Could the Hounds of Justice eliminate the evils of the NWO, or would the group that revolutionized wrestling in the 90’s be too much for Rollins, Reigns, and Ambrose to stop? Let us know in the comments!

Of course you do. nWo HAD to be able to be taken down by Goldberg and Sting, otherwise heel/face dynamics don’t work. And yea, when the nWo was down to guys like Horace and Stevie Ray, yeah, DX was better, but that’s not what we’re talking about here.

  • Mike the Ike

That’s a cop out. Regardless of what era that were a part of, Hogan, Hall, and Nash are bigger names than Rollins, Ambrose, or Reigns. I’m not saying that Rollins and Ambrose aren’t better wrestlers than Hogan and Nash, I’m saying that nWo is the better faction, because they are. In a 3-3 match, nWo goes over. In any combination of 1-1 matches, nWo wins at least two of the three matches. It seems to me you’ve been drinking too much of Vince’s koolaid.

Poor comparison. And then error when all wrestlers are held back and minimize for the sake of the tiny children in the ring rated E for everyone, The Shield has still became the edgiest top stable in the area. NWO was in a time where creative did not hold the talent back. So let’s think about how shield would operate if they could actually do whatever they wanted. Someone with the athletic ability of Seth Rollins, someone who is supposed to be as crazy as Dean Ambrose imagine what he would do if he was not held back, and of course the PowerHouse Roman Reigns

Thing is if we’re talking 1996-7 sure, anything after that they basically became a nostalgia act

Disagree. The NWO, even at their biggest numbers, were still taken down by Goldberg and sting. Shield havent been taken down by just one person. Star power would be a plus yes, but IMO, DX overshined nWo after awhile.

Purely based on that, yeah. I mean it was a totally different era back then, an era of star power and ratings. Obviously booking would have gone in their favour too, when you consider their backstage pull.

From a talent perspective, Shield has two great talents and Reigns. Only real talent in the nWo was Hall. But the nWo was not about talent, and in many ways, neither is the Shield. It is about the numbers game and overpowering people, so once again the nWo has that edge.

While I disagree with nWo being able to “murder” the Shield, they would certainly have been the victors.

  • Mike the Ike

He’s not wrong. The nWo back in the day vs the Shield, no contest. nWo was far more over. nWo had bigger names. And I mean the original three man nWo of Hogan, Hall, and Nash.
