Jerry Lawler Responds To Fans Being Critical Of His Commentary

WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler appeared on Busted Open Radio this afternoon to promote his upcoming DVD release and down below is an excerpt from that interview in which he talks about fans being critical of his commentary:

“I think somewhere along the line our job went from just calling holds to telling stories…You don’t need to reinforce what they’re actually seeing. There’s a lot of fans who still give us grief that we’re not calling all of the moves and the holds…It’s not radio. It’s television. You can see what they are doing…I think we do a really good job at balancing it. We call the holds and big moves and I…me personally. I try to inject a little humor. It’s not life or death. It’s sport entertainment. And to me, that’s something fun to watch. To me, if I go to a movie and I don’t laugh or enjoy it. I’m not gonna go back again. I think we’re trying to add to the entertainment value of the match instead of making it so deadly serious…Michael Cole and Tom Phillips, these guys are the serious guys. And I try to not take it so seriously.”

Busted Open Radio airs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays on Sirius XM.
