John Cena admits that WWE doesn’t need him

John Cena has moved on from the role of being the face of WWE in the past few years and while they both are still associated, WWE has also moved on from the Cenation Leaders’ reign as their top star.

During a recent interview with the Wrap, Cena talked about a number of things and discussing his WWE status, the former World Champion said that WWE doesn’t need him:

“The WWE does not need me. I need it and I love it, and I love every single moment I’m associated with it, but I felt it the first time this year at WrestleMania: I took a step back and looked at everything and (realized) it is such a powerful machine.”

Continuing on the topic, Cena revealed that since his home in Tampa is close to Orlando, he often goes to the performance center and speaks to the students.

Later in the interview, the 16 time World Champion also discussed how the newer crop of WWE talent is faster and more precise and how he only got the opportunity on TV because stars like Brock Lesnar and the Rock had left.
