John Cena talks Ric Flair’s reaction on his 16th World title win, passing the torch

Former WWE World Champion John Cena recently did an interview with WSVN-TV, where he talked about many things including his 16th world title win, WrestleMania 33 and more. Below are some of the highlights from the interview:

Talking about his interaction with Ric Flair after he tied with Flair’s record of 16 World Championships at Royal Rumble, Cena said that he was very encouraging:

“I have a longstanding friendship with Ric Flair. He’s been a mentor to me over the years. It was very important to me that he was there for me that night, he was nothing but encouraging, so honourable and so inspirational.”

When asked if he wrestled his whole match at WrestleMania 33 with the ring in his pocket with which he proposed Nikki Bella afterwards, The Cenation Leader said that some secrets should be kept secret:

“There are some secrets that should be kept secret, my friend. That one’s for me to know. I like the fact that a lot of folks ask me where I kept the ring. I know where I kept it and I think that’s a secret I’ll keep with me.”

When asked who he thinks he should pass The Torch to, the longtime WWE Poster Boy claimed that it has been passed already without him being involved:

“I think it’s been passed without me. There’s a lot of folks who are currently doing a lot of damage on the roster. The show is thriving in my absence, I think it’s extremely competitive. I think the company is moving on quite well. I don’t know if there needs to be a formal anointment but they’re really doing well without me.”

Apart from this, John Cena also talked about his upcoming WWE return and said that he is just waiting to get back and prove his worth once again.
