Home » WWE News » JR Blog: Christian Losing the Title, Kharma’s Comments, Tough Enough

Jim Ross is back with another blog update over on jrsbarbq.com. Here are some of the highlights from this entry:

– Tough Enough ends this Monday LIVE on USA and I hope that it returns for a 2nd season but apparently that isn’t a done deal as of yet. Personally I think the show is well produced and I really enjoyed the work of Steve Austin, Trish Stratus, Bill DeMott, and Booker T. None of the new wrestling talents, as I have mentioned, jumped off the screen at me but becoming a great, in ring talent is always a work in progress and some prospects will never grasp exactly what it is that they need to do to become a star. I’m a believer that it’s a 3-5 year maturation process before most athletes are ready to even think about headlining major events.

– After the vocal minority uproar when Christian lost the World Title on Smackdown, I mentioned that I thought that loss would likely position the skilled veteran from Ontario, not talking about Neil Young here, to become more relevant and valuable to WWE. Seems as if that has occurred as Christian, after this week’s Smackdown broadcast, is arguably the brand’s #1 villain. Of course there will be some who refuse to look at the reality of this matter and the fact that Christian has the opportunity to fill a huge gap and to be in plenty of main events at live events and on TV. Plus, Christian’s verbal skills will be better utilized as an antagonist, IMO. The bottom line is about making money and this certainly positions Christian to have the potential to capitalize on such.

– @Kharma wrote a really nice blog that cleared up the misunderstanding that some people had after her compelling, in ring promo on Monday Night Raw. Too many people acted like idiots and indicted me for all sorts of ridiculous things having to do with racism, being a misogynist, etc before knowing the facts. We lost a fair amount of business here on our website because of the matter which is regrettable.

Well I think Christian is replacing Edge.
Randy Orton obviously failed at becoming the face of the company on SmackDown and Edge is always turning heel and face so I think Christian will do the same- Heel-Face Heel-Face,ETC ,ETC

  • ICE

christian could have become the next rey mysterio when it came to his 1st title win. and things turned out ok for rey’s merch sales, orton can sell t-shirts as a heel or face but he works the mic better as a heel. yea the bottom line is making money, but somewhere down the line the bottom line became the only line.

    Oh it will happen.

  • CiB

Venom if that happens I will eat every hat in my street. And I’ll like it.

  • venom

I have a funny feeling Christian is winning the title back at Capitol Punishment.

@Jimbo THANK YOU. I was wondering if anyone else noticed that little phrase.
@Bill The only thing i wanted Christian to do was win the world title, the real one with a real reign, thus puttin a cap on his career and makin him a grand slam an triple crown winning champion.. They made Christian inferior to Edge when they were on the same level in different ways. An now Christian is once again takin a back seat to someone who isnt worthy of it right now (not alluding to Edge not ever bing worthy, they played around with givin him the belt but he took it ran n with it.)

  • Bill

Haven’t we all wanted Christian to turn heel since he returned in 2009?

  • Jimbo

Oh, and I like how JR belittles it as “the vocal minority.” If by minority you mean people who don’t buy buttloads of merchandise, then yes.

It is insane to suggest that the majority of us are happy to see Christian become fodder for SuperOrton.

  • Freakzilla

Agree with the above comment. WWE really dropped the ball with Christian, the fans have been behind him before Edges retirement and that is in part down to WWE as well having him involved in the Del Rio angle. If they wanted Christian heel, they could have left the title with him and had him face Orton in the future where Orton gets a near victory but Christian gets a DQ or something and then apologises and then turns heel. Instead we have this farcical storyline which isn’t half as interesting than it could have been.

  • CiB

When you look at recent events- you have Orton whose a crap face. Then you have Edges best friend who finally got the title after 20 years after Edge had to retire due to injury (a win that was long over due, and percieved as such by many fans, hence the live reaction to the title win).

Frankly, here Christian is in a better position to act as the brands top face- but the WWE want to push Orton down our throats, and thus made the less sensible heel turn.

  • rick

Considering where Christian was this time last year, I’m not complaining. At least he is not stuck in the lower-mid card anymore.

  • Jimbo

Really? JR is still trying to justify the Christian thing? How is this better? He’s just become another villain for the almighty Randy Orton to vanquish.
