JR on NJPW in the US, WrestleMania, and Ronda Rousey

Good Ol’ JR was recently interviewed by Bleacher Report. In the video, Ross talked about New Japan Pro Wrestling

While there, JR also talked about the WWE’s signing of Ronda Rousey and his expectations for the AJ Styles-Shinsuke Nakamura match.

Why is NJPW so successful?

The key to it is talent and television. In that order. Talent is everything. They have more old-school theories in their booking. Anybody can lose to anybody else, by and large, if the other guy gets to use his finish.

At various places in [Okada vs Sanada at New Beginning], it could have gone either way. That’s good ring psychology. That’s good execution.

WWE’s signing of Ronda Rousey:

It was just a brilliant move by WWE to sign Ronda Rousey. I’ve had people stop in airports when I’m wearing my black hat to say ‘hi.’ Now they want to talk about what I think about Ronda Rousey signing with the WWE. That’s worth a lot of money, man.

On AJ Styles taking on Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Title at WrestleMania:

They have incredible, incredible chemistry. I have extremely high expectations for that. I hope people come out of that and say, ‘My God, I didn’t know Nakamura was that good. I didn’t know Nakamura was that physical.’

AJ Styles, in my view, is the top in-ring performer in the business right now.

JR also talked about writing Slobberknocker, how hard it was to continue after both his writing partner and wife passed away, and an upcoming Q&A in April during WrestleMania week.
