Kenny Florian Going For Gold In New Featherweight Division

After much talk and speculation, Kenny Florian (13-5-0) will be making the drop from UFC lightweight to featherweight division, giving the contender a chance to win gold after coming up short in the 155lb. weight class.

The normally 155lb. Massachusetts native spoke about the drop in weightclass and how he feels he’ll do once he makes his debut in his new weight division:

“It’s hard to predict any of that because I’ve never been at 145. All things considered, I think I’ll be able to do it right. I trust in the people that are around me. I think I’ll be able to do it without any problems. You never know. Anytime you’re going into unknown territory, you have to plan for a lot of variables. These are things I’m not familiar with, but I’m confident that I’ll be fine on fight night and I’ll be able to perform to the best of my ability. … I think 155 is the deepest weight division in the world, 145 is going to be tough with different challenges with fast, speedy guys and very active fights. I feel blessed that I’ve had the opportunity to face a lot of great guys in different divisions. This is another great challenge.”
