Kofi Kingston has come a long way from his days as a singles performer in the WWE. Having found unexpected success with the New Day, the high flyer has not looked back. Kingston recently achieved the feat of being the WWE superstar with the most days as the WWE Tag Team Champion, the wrestler overtook Billy Gunn to get to the top spot.
ESPN recently interviewed Kingston, where he revealed that he did not expect to achieve this record. Kingston said:
“Never in my wildest dreams did I set the goal to be the longest-reigning tag-team champion, I’m lucky and blessed to have so many tag-team championships.”
The New Day member also mentioned the influence of Punk on his career by stating that the former WWE star taught him a lot about the business. Kingston stated:
“I learned so much from him, Learned so much about what it takes to be a star.”
