Kurt Angle Reportedly Telling Indie Promoters He’s Returning to WWE

According to a report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, former TNA and WWE champ Kurt Angle has been telling indie promoters that he will be returning to the WWE come April of 2017. The time frame fits perfectly for a potential Wrestlemania 33 return.

Angle has a few big indie matches coming up, as he’s scheduled to take on Alberto Del Rio on February 12th in the UKĀ for WCPW, followed by a quick turnaround against Cody Rhodes in their third bout, but has been telling promoters that he’s not accepting any dates after that.

It should be noted, however, that this isn’t the first time Angle has been telling indie promoters he’s returning to the big leagues, so take this rumor with caution. The rumor mill always seems to be spewing a plethora of big names out around Wrestlemania season, so we’ll have to wait on official confirmation.

We’ll keep you updated as more becomes available……..

I hope not, but that can make sense.

  • Khosrow

If he comes back it will be Angle vs Rusev.

Of course he can, but like I said. Kurt only has a few matches left in him. There is long-list of guys capable of matching Kurt’s abilities to put on much BETTER matches than he could with Cena. It takes someone like an Angle, HBK, or Punk to get Cena up to a level that those guys did every night. When Kurt retires for good and he hasn’t wrestled Cena again I wouldn’t lose any sleep.

As much as I don’t like Cena(mainly because of the gimmick because let’s face it we all loved him when he was doin the rap gimmick) I refuse to say he wouldn’t have a great match with Angle,Angle can put on a show with virtually anybody.Hes that good

Yeah I agree I think Lesnar v Angle would be the best match the WWE could book out of that list. However since it seems locked in Lesnar v Goldberg at WM I don’t see that happening. Shame tho, their old matches were amazing.

  • D2K

    I’ll take Angle/Lesnar, Angle/Rollins, Angle/Swagger, and Angle/Cesaro out of that.

Angle v Jericho could be a great Legends match.
Angle v Lesnar would be even better. Lesnar would be the power and Angle would use his technical skill to even it up. A great story to show in the ring.
Angle v Cesaro would be one match to consider, though it could be a bit hard to script up a story, other than two great wrestlers facing each other.
Angle v Swagger could be great in the ring for technical skill, but Swagger has been neutered by WWE.

Angle v Rollins would be the other option, Legend v Current Generation.
Angle v Rusev, but the monster Rusev isn’t quite as much a monster.

There are plenty of guys there he can wrestle that he hasn’t, but in terms of major marquee Wrestlemania-level matches I would much rather see him in the ring with someone I know he is going to be in a great match with.

Cena has never impressed me in the ring. Even at his best he’s only seemed “adequate” rather than good. I don’t want to see one of the few bullets Kurt has left in the chamber wasted on Cena.

  • Kristopher Robinson

Agreed, but I’d rather have it be someone he has never wrestled before. The Cena one would make sense though. He wrestled Styles, many times before.

Even tho I don’t think it will be good… a final retirement match against Cena would make sense. Cena debuted with Angle, Angle retires with Cena.
However AJ v Angle would be a killer match
