– Lanny Poffo appeared on a podcast hosted by Steve Wilton and commented on the possibility of Randy Savage being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame this year. Poffo said he did not hear from WWE after his brother passed away last May and that he has not heard from them regarding enshrinement into the Hall.

Lanny claimed last year during an interview that Randy would have only accepted enshrinement into the WWE Hall of Fame if the Poffo family (Angelo, Lanny and Randy) went in together like the Von Erichs. Randy pulled a similar power play in 1995 as Angelo was inducted into the WCW Hall of Fame as a favor from management. Legendary wrestling announcer Gordon Solie objected to Poffo’s induction because he did not consider him to be a notable wrestler.

– Former WWE performer Shelly Martinez appears with her sister Danielle on this Saturday’s episode of Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan. The reality program, which features Millan working with “problem dogs,” airs at 8:00 p.m. on Nat Geo WILD.

– Dan Severn and WWE Hall of Famer Ivan Putski have been announced for WrestleReunion, which takes place January 27-29 at the Westin Los Angeles Airport 5400 West Century Blvd. Los Angeles, California.

They should’ve inducted Macho Man along time ago. But I really hope they induct him…

    @tombstone

You have a good point there. They should just go ahead and incut Macho Man. What is Lanny going to do? Sue WWE to get in the HOF.

@Nicholas, Hey I totally agree with you. I think Randy should have been in the HoF years ago but your right that still does not make it a joke. Now we both have to admit that putting Drew Carey in the HoF tarnished it’s reputation somewhat but you are right it’s still the only wrestling HoF that matters.
I was just raising a question that I thought maybe someone knew the answer too. Thought maybe Randy had said it publicly before and I had missed it or something.,

  • Nicholas

@Tombstonepildriver no we don’t know if Randy Savage that a nd truth is we will never know. To be honset I thought they should have put him in last year because they did his dvd. But then again they should have put him in long time ago put that don’t mean WWE Hall of Fame is a joke. I get tired of reading that it is disrespectful. Plus it is the only Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame that matters. Name me another Pro Wrestling Hall Of Fame that matter wait there isn’t one.

if lanny was inducted, free frisbees for everyone!!!!!!!LOL

  • Tombstonepildriver

My question is this, Do we know that Randy actually said that or are we just taking Lanny’s word for it? Now befor anyone gets mad, I am not insulting Lanny, Just find it strange that I only heard him say that after Randy’s death.
I remember as a kid I saw Lanny wrestle, He would lose all his matches. Then he left for awhile when he returned he had some awesome arial moves and was known as leaping Lanny Pofo. But the only way he would ever even be considered for the HoF would be by being in a group with Randy. He is just not HoF material.

While I do believe wholeheartedly that there is no doubt Randy Savage belongs in the hall of fame everybody seems to miss the fact that it was Randy himself who turned down enshrinement. He said no because they wouldn’t let his whole family in. That for once isn’t on Vince. Angelo and Lanny don’t quite stack up to be in there. But then again neither do Drew Carey and The Fridge so its a moot point. Also Warrior has said no as well and its Owens widow who doesn’t want her husbands legacy to persevere. It isn’t always Vince being an asshole. Usually but not always

@rabid You’re right, in a way. But only in the Vince McMahon Jr. era of wrestling. Honestly, huge guys being champion started with Vince, and Hogan, and to some extent Billy Graham before him.

But there were many smaller champions, in fact most of them were “small” by today’s standards, before the 80s.

    Bruno Sammartino: 5’11″
    Bob Backlund: 6’1″
    Harley Race: 6’1″
    “Classy” Freddie Blassy: 5’10″
    Lou Thesz: 6’2″
    Verne Gagne: 5’11″
    Dory Funk Jr.: 5’11″
    Terry Funk: 6’1″
    Dusty Rhodes: 6’1″
    Iron Sheik: 6’0″
    Jack Brisco: 6’0″
    Nick Bockwinkel: 5’10″
“Mad Dog” Vachon: 5’9″ (and he was a monster heel)

And hell, for that matter, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Sting, etc., were all smaller champions too, later on. But the point is, smaller wrestlers were often world champion top stars in the business. It really was Vince’s influence on the business that started pushing huge, body builder types.

Hey stu. Nothing much man. Just chilling. And you?

  • stu

    Hey Steve. What’s going on?

  • KGM Da Master

    Agreed pinksincara

  • shawn

its wresling news so im aware of some topics just brought up of from basically nowhere but how much of a possibility is it for his induction? on that note i really dont think the wwe is avoiding his family, there worried about their new Hip-Hop Hippo.

  • PinkSinCara

WWE’s HOF will always be a joke until Savage, Warrior, and Owen are inducted

  • rabid

im sure we will eventually see him in the hof.. lets be honest the IC title match between him and steamboat really did have a huge impact on letting guys that aren’t huge be champions

  • venom

Well that’s why Macho Man isn’t in the HOF, which is a shame. WWE obviously doesn’t care about the whole family enough. Maybe they’ll go in as a group in the HOF in 2013, because this years group is the Four Horsemen.
