The Miz Reportedly Being Blamed For Disappointing Survivor Series Buy Figure

WWE officials contemplated months ago of putting The Miz back in the WWE Championship picture come January. That did not happen and he has not won a televised singles match since the December 5, 2011 edition of Raw. There are people within WWE who believe top officials are blaming him for the Survivor Series drawing a disappointing buy number. Teaming with R-Truth, he appeared in the main event against John Cena and The Rock.

The pay-per-view event, which featured The Rock’s first wrestling match in over seven years, is estimated to have garnered 260,000 buys worldwide. It was reported that of that figure, 160,000 pay-per-view purchases came from the United States.

The estimate compares to 244,000 buys in 2010 and 235,000 in 2009, which nearly got the show scrapped from the annual pay-per-view line-up.

I don’t think WWE is blaming the Miz period. They are just letting the Miz put some people over for a little while. I think The Miz has had one heck of a run in the WWE from where he was before an where he is right now. Oh by the way if the Miz is so baD how come he lasted so long in the Rumble. An if memory serve me right didn’t the Miz beat Morrison on his last night in the WWE.

I don’t think WWE is done with the Miz being in the main event what so ever. He is just so good at putting people over. So he lose a few matches for a little while. It not like he is never going to be champion again because he will. Hey this same kind of stuff happen to Sheamus just last year an look where he is now. I exepct an always have felt this way about the Miz when the day come an he turn face he is going to be the Cena you watch.

For people saying miz isnt a star then why did they let him have the wwe title for so long. Also why was he marketed on ever talk show when he won the title went on guest stints every were pretty much. Ya he’s not a star. THen the PPV bombs and your going to blame him because they booked it bad and instead of having the two guys who are going to face eachother at wresltmania start to build at the feud by wrestling you have them on the same team but ya its the Miz fault WWE droped the ball.

  • silkysimcfly

So it’s all Miz’s fault. really, Really, REALLY!!!

  • John

I love the fact that some people are buying into this ridiculous idea that it’s the miz’s fault for the ppv when that match was always going to suck due to the way it was built up, and the fact that everybody knew what the outcome would be before it took place. It was always going to be a squash match so how can it be miz’s fault that the match sucked when all he had to do was go out there and take a beating.

Also all those people saying that he sucks really need there heads looking at. I’m no miz fan but I think he’s a decent heel. Plus besides the rock he was the only one in that match that oooh I don’t know can actually cut a decent promo. Unlike cena and truth who are both about as good at cutting promos as rikishi ever was.

And when you give a guy a 6 month title reign then he gets squashed by super cena and disappears out the title picture completely and has to hawk subway on the show no wonder people lose interest. Fact is that once again WWE creative are to blame again here for failing to come up with anything interesting. But then again, what’s new.

  • Breezy

It isn’t the miz fault. Wwe didnt put miz and truth over as equals to cena and rock. It is the entire wwe’s fault. I guarantee when miz career comes to a close he will the closest thing to hbk.

  • kamala’s foot

Zach Gowen’s lost leg is better than The Miz.

  • WWFZine

miz is good sparingly.. he is good in a comedic/riling people up role.

    main event no.

  • WWFZine

@John, i agree to a certain extent. Cena has a strong fan base who will come and tune in.

For miz, u can’t say that. i haven’t see people holding any cards for him..
and now even when he ends off with …awesome, less people are saying it with him..

    just …listen…

  • John

@JayHawk The difference is that Cena has a track record. The Miz hasn’t been main eventing that long and IMO has sucked all the way.

  • DJ

That ppv sucked cause of all the crappy matches b4 it not cause of the miz!! Hell that was the only ok match of the night! Oyyyyyyy!

  • kennedyniles

Oh well, I’m just glad he’s not being used as a main eventer.

  • JayHawk

Blame the Miz and not Cena is messed up.

  • WWFZine

they tried to give miz a chance and he blew it. he aint a star. no quality no substance no style. zilch.

all he has is his faux mohawk.

  • venom

    @Ahmed Johnson

That’s exactly what I was thinking. Ever since Cena took out both Miz and R-Truth in the mainevent of the Halloween episode of Raw showed he didn’t need The Rock’s help. I think the mainevent should have been Cena/Punk vs Rock/HHH.

  • John

I wouldn’t blame The Miz but Im happy other people also think he sucks. All he does is make goofy faces, give crappy promos, and put average at best matches. He’s not a star.

  • chronoxiong

    Because he’s The Miz, and he’s awesome….Oh wait..Maybe not.

  • Bill

Yeah. Nobody wanted to see Cena & Rock team up. We wanted Team Cena vs, Team Rock with Punk, Nash, HHH & the nWo in it too!

  • nick

it was rock/cena vs. 2 guys that hadnt won a match in months… come on now. plus, zero buildup

  • Pissed Off Fan =(

Should have been Team Cena vs Team Rock instead..

  • Ahmed Johnson

Maybe if there was a little drama leading into the ppv. Super Cena was beating both Miz and Truth by himself. Why did he need The Rock? It was a horrible build up leading into. There was never any doubt that Truth and Miz could be Cena alone let alone with the Rock.

  • Pissed Off Fan =(

It’s not Miz’s fault the PPV did bad, it’s WWE fault! They shouldn’t blame anyone else but themsevles. Plus when it comes to 2009 numbers ad thinking of getting rid of the SS PPV, yea cause the name makes a big difference. Just do the 2002 lineup and your good PLUS better storylines/matches

  • Jason

How about their buy rate sucks because the product is lacking ?

  • JIR

so they blame the guy that DIDN’T have a shot at winning the match instead of saying “hey we didn’t build this marquee event up and loaded it with sub par matches”

  • Valo487

So wait, they’re blaming The Miz instead of the ass backwards booking of Cena and Rock on the same team? Why the hell would anyone be psyched to see them team up when we’ve spent a year wanting to see them tear each other apart?

  • Bawb

I’m not a big fan of the Miz’s character–I think he overdoes it a bit–but how the hell are you going to blame him? There was the whole rest of the card to complain about. I honestly think, by the sound of the Garden, that the Rock’s match was not responsible for the low buys. In fact, I bet it would have been lower without it. So why blame anyone involved in that one? And if this is true, Miz is probably scratching his head thinking the same thing.

And why would you penalize the concept of the PPV and threaten to scrap it because of the low buys? Perhaps it’s in decline because of booking, which, by the ratings of every fucking show WWE has to offer nowadays, is probably the case.

  • LordWafez

That’s asinine. The fact is a lot of people bought the show to see the very match he was in. Maybe he wasn’t the draw specifically, but his match is a big reason people tuned in. And as far as “disappointing” goes, that number may not be high but it’s higher than the previous two years. Either way, how is Miz at fault specifically?

  • Mr. E

People hate the Miz more than they like the Rock?? That’s insane. Maybe it was the huge build while R-Truth and Miz were gone, and then being nothing but pawns when they came back.

  • evetorres_chin

    damn it i meant face

  • evetorres_chin

    i blame his goofy fave

  • CC

Yeah, cause one guy is responsible for a whole PPV.
Its not like he was a solo headliner.
